  • Patent number: 4902166
Abstract: A jetty comprises a plurality of vertically-extending shallow modular structural elements having parallel upper and lower planar faces, the elements being in a vertically layered, horizontally offset and cantilevered juxtaposition to define a three-dimensional network characterized by vertical gaps between portions of some of the elements. At least some of the elements define at least one aperture extending vertically through the thickness thereof, the system further comprising union members extending through a series of vertically aligned apertures for joining the elements together.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: February 20, 1990
    Inventor: Pedro S. Bores
  • Patent number: 4875804
Abstract: A breakwater comprises a base and an interlocking plurality of vertically-oriented elements of generally quadrangular cross-section. The elements are mounted on a vertically-fixed upper surface of the base, form a monolithic horizontally-extending fascine, and define a vertically stepped mosaic crown.

  • Patent number: 4834578
Abstract: An energy-dissipating overflow-type dike dividing a body of water into inner and outer zones, comprises an overflow-type dike defining on its upper surface a platform having an average elevation approximating the mean surface of the body of water. A plurality of upstanding wave energy-dissipating elements, each of varying horizontal cross-sectional width, are disposed in spaced relationship on the platform to reduce the potential impact effect of a water overflow on the inner zone by extending the area and period of impact. A plurality of channels, each of varying horizontal cross-sectional width, are defined by and between the elements for dissipating the kinetic energy of water passing therethrough while enabling water flow for basin water renewal in the inner zone.

  • Patent number: 4801220
Abstract: A mosaic seawall comprises a fascine of vertically-elongated structural prisms of generally identical cross-section. Each of the elements has at least one lateral face abutting a lateral face of another of the prisms to define a common lateral face extending substantially the full vertical extent of at least one of the abutting prisms. A plurality of the prisms together define in cross-section a stable mosaic to resist overturning or sliding under the wave action, a plurality of the prisms together defining an echeloned or vertically stepped mosaic crest.
