  • Publication number: 20070282363
Abstract: An annular cutter comprising a tubular body with a cutting blade rotational around a central axis, and a finger slot at the upper end of the axis. The cutting blade cuts out a portion of a body organ as the tubular body is turned repeatedly while it is kept in stable position by a finger inserted into the slot at the upper end of the cutter. Means retaining the cutout portion of the body organ are further provided.

  • Patent number: 6896687
Abstract: The connector consists of an annular rigid body conformed to an outer surface around a wall-opening of a hollow anatomical structure and holding means that keep the hollow structure adjoined internally to the annular body, wherein a union of the annular body with another annular body of another connector attached to another hollow structure forms an inner fluidproof surface that surrounds the abutted cut-edges of the wall-openings of the approximated two hollow structures. Different embodiments of end connectors and side connectors in divisible or indivisible unions are provided for end-to-end and side-to-end anastomoses of various hollow structures.

  • Patent number: 6730103
Abstract: The new connector system comprises a novel cutting instrument and a novel type of connectors for hollow anatomical structures. The cutting instrument comprises a barbed pointed end and a surrounding cutting edge. The barbed pointed end pierces the wall of a hollow anatomical structure. The cutting edge cuts an annular opening in the wall of a hollow anatomical structure. The annular opening surrounds the piercing pointed end that retains the cutout portion of the wall. The cut opening is predefined to correspond to an opening of another hollow structure. Two hollow structures with corresponding openings are joined by an annular connector holding together their approximated walls.

  • Patent number: 6254618
Abstract: Connector and methods for attachment to hollow anatomical organs. The connector consists of an annular rigid body and multiple holding members affixed along its opening. The opening and the inner surface and of the annular body conform respectively to the opening and the external surface of a hollow anatomical organ. The holding members press the hollow organ towards the annular rigid body, thus attaching the connector to the hollow anatomical organ. Various embodiments of connectors are provided for hollow anatomical organs with different external surfaces and for joining them with anatomical and artificial structures.

  • Patent number: 6030392
Abstract: Connector and methods for attachment to hollow anatomical structures. The connector consists of an annular rigid body and multiple holding members affixed along its opening. The opening and the inner surface and of the annular body correspond respectively to the opening and the external surface of a hollow anatomical structure. The holding members are deformed by an applied force in a manner that the deformed holding members protrude into the opening of the hollow structure and press it towards the annular rigid body, thus attaching the connector to the hollow anatomical structure. Various embodiments of connectors and methods are provided for attaching the connectors to hollow anatomical structures with different external surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5720755
Abstract: A tubular suturing device for suturing new types of tubular connectors to the ends of tubular structures such as blood vessels. The suturing device comprises a substantially rigid body containing multiple staples disposed within receptacles arranged radially along a suturing surface of the body, and an actuating mechanism moving in predetermined spaces producing multiple forces ejecting the staples in an approximately radial direction. Various embodiments and methods are provided for attachment of different types of tubular connectors to the external or internal surface of the tubular structures by staples ejected in an inward or outward radial direction; for new methods of clinching of the prongs of the ejected staples; for new surgical procedures and for new instruments facilitating their performance.
