Abstract: A dental instrument for cleaning and planing of tooth root faces comprises a conical or flattened working part, in which one or more countersunk grooves are cut out. Opposed side faces of said grooves form a sharp, essentially square-angled cutting edge with area of the working part situated on either side of the groove. When the deposits upon the tooth have been removed and the tooth face planed, said areas form load-relieving surfaces resting against the tooth face and preventing the cutting edges from coming into contact with and undesirably working off further undamaged tooth material.

Abstract: An applicator device for the application of paste directly upon the teeth, particularly in the interspaces between teeth intended to be used by the dental profession or when cleaning the teeth at home. The object of the invention is to create an applicator device of a simple design economically so that it need not be refilled but may be discarded after use. The device should also be easy to handle and shaped such that its tip can reach each and every interspace. The device comprises an integrally formed plastics material tube having a comparatively wide, compressible handle portion defining an internal paste container, an adjoining comparatively narrow and quite long conduit portion, and a laterally directed tapering nozzle portion at the end of the conduit portion through which portion the paste may be discharged into the interspaces between teeth.

Abstract: A peridontal probe comprising a handle portion and a pin member rotatably mounted thereon about an axis of rotation, the pin member having a free end portion which is straight and flat, lies wholly to one side of and in the same plane as the axis of rotation, the spacing between the free end portion and the axis either being constant or decreasing in a direction towards the free end of the free end portion.
