Publication number: 20240095893Abstract: A first reshaping mapping is performed on a first image represented in a first domain to generate a second image represented in a second domain. The first domain is of a first dynamic range different from a second dynamic range of which the second domain is. A second reshaping mapping is performed on the second image represented in the second domain to generate a third image represented in the first domain. The third image is perceptually different from the first image in at least one of: global contrast, global saturation, local contrast, local saturation, etc. A display image is derived from the third image and rendered on a display device.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2022Publication date: March 21, 2024Applicant: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Guan-Ming SU, Harshad KADU, Per Jonas Andreas KLITTMARK, Tao CHEN

Patent number: 11743550Abstract: Apparatus and methods for providing solutions to the problem of preserving original creative intent for video playback on a target display are presented herein. According to one aspect, a video bitstream includes metadata with a flag indicative of creative intent for a target display. This metadata may include numerous fields that denote characteristics such as content type, content sub-type, intended white point, whether or not to use the video in Reference Mode, intended sharpness, intended noise reduction, intended MPEG noise reduction, intended Frame Rate Conversion, intended Average Picture Level, and intended color. This metadata is designed to make it effortless for the content creators to tag their content. The metadata can be added to the video content at multiple points, the status of the flag is set to TRUE or FALSE to indicate whether the metadata was added by the content creator or a third party.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2020Date of Patent: August 29, 2023Assignee: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Robin Atkins, Per Jonas Andreas Klittmark

Publication number: 20230217067Abstract: The described embodiments include systems and methods for producing and adapting images, such as video images, for presentation on display devices that have various different aspects ratios, such as 4:3, 16:9, 9:16, etc. In one embodiment, a method for producing content, such as video images, can begin by selecting an original aspect ratio and determining, within at least a first scene in the content, a position of a subject in the first scene. In one embodiment, the original aspect ratio can be substantially square (e.g., 1:1). Metadata can then be created, based on the position of the subject in the first scene, to guide playback devices to asymmetrically crop the content, relative to the position, for display on display devices that have aspect ratios that are different than the original aspect ratio. Other methods and systems are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2021Publication date: July 6, 2023Applicant: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Robin ATKINS, Suzanne FARRELL, Per Jonas Andreas KLITTMARK

Patent number: 8582818Abstract: A method of automatically detecting objects in front of a motor vehicle comprises the steps of pre-storing template objects representing possible objects in front of the motor vehicle, detecting images from a region in front of the vehicle by a vehicle mounted imaging means, generating a processed image containing disparity or vehicle-to-scene distance information from the detected images, comparing the pre-stored template objects with corresponding regions-of-interest of the processed image, and generating a match result relating to the match between the processed image and the template objects. Each of the pre-stored template objects is a flat two-dimensional multi-pixel area of predetermined shape.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2010Date of Patent: November 12, 2013Assignee: Autoliv Development ABInventors: Per Jonas Hammarström, Ognjan Hedberg

Publication number: 20120026332Abstract: A vision method for automatically detecting objects in front of a motor vehicle, comprises the steps of detecting images from a region in front of the vehicle by a vehicle mounted imaging means; generating from said detected images a processed image, containing disparity or vehicle-to-scene distance information; comparing regions-of-interest of said processed image to template objects relating to possible objects in front of the motor vehicle; calculating for each template object a score relating to the match between said processed image and the template object; and identifying large scores of sufficient absolute magnitude of said calculated scores. The vision method further comprises the steps of applying an algorithm adapted to identify groups of said large scores, and assigning an identified group of large scores to a single match object.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2010Publication date: February 2, 2012Inventors: Per Jonas Hammarström, Ognjan Hedberg

Publication number: 20070297608Abstract: A method for protecting data for access by a plurality of users. A server encrypts data using a master key and a symmetric encryption algorithm. For each authorized user, a key encryption key (KEK) is derived from a passphrase, and the master key is encrypted using the KEK. The server posts the encrypted data and an ancillary file that includes, for each user, a user identifier and the master key encrypted according to the user's KEK. To access the data, a user enters the passphrase into a client, which re-derives the user's KEK, and finds, in the ancillary file, the master key encrypted using the user's KEK. The client decrypts the master key and then decrypts the data. A KEK may be derived from a natural language passphrase by hashing the passphrase, concatenating the result and a predetermined text, hashing the concatenation, and truncating.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2007Publication date: December 27, 2007Inventors: Per Jonas, Allen Roginsky, Nevenko Zunic
