  • Patent number: 9560509
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling emergency signalling in an IP Multimedia Subsystem network. A Proxy-Call Session Control Function receives a message requesting set up of a session. The message is associated with an IP Multimedia Private Identity. The P-CSCF determines that the message relates to an emergency call. If an emergency override tag associated with the IMPI is provisioned or set at the P-CSCF, then the message is forwarding the SIP message to a Serving-Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF) for further handling. However, if an emergency override tag associated with the IMPI is not provisioned or set at the P-CSCF, the message is forwarded to an Emergency-Call Session Control Function (E-CSCF). The invention allows the P-CSCF to exercise control over the handling of emergency signalling.

  • Patent number: 8996673
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for handling emergency signaling in an IP Multimedia Subsystem network. The P-CSCF exercises control over the handling of emergency signaling, according to embodiments of the invention.

  • Patent number: 8572258
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of establishing a session between client user terminals accessing IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, networks. At least one of the IMS networks implements the use of Quality of Service, QoS, preconditions, and at least one of the client user terminals does not use QoS preconditions. The method includes receiving, at an inter-working function, IWF located in one of the IMS networks, an IMS session initiation request originated by an originating client, the request indicating a terminating client for the session. A decision is made, based on the session initiation request, that one of the originating client and the terminating client is not using QoS preconditions. A set of QoS preconditions is inserted into a procedure for establishing the IMS session on behalf of the client that is not using QoS preconditions. Session establishment is completed only after QoS resources complying with the set of QoS preconditions have been established.

  • Patent number: 4066068
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for measuring quantitatively the amount of liquid and convection heat emitted from a surface by diffusion. When the surface is a derm surface the transepidermal water loss is measurable by a cylindrical shield device in which one open end is engaged with the derm layer and the other open end is exposed to the surroundings and within the cylindrical shield are placed a pair of temperature transducers and a pair of humidity transducers respectively positioned orthogonally to the derm surface at first and second known distances therefrom. The temperature and humidity readings at these two distances from the surface of the derm are processed by a circuit device to calculate the amount of water evaporated per surface unit over a given time interval.
