Patent number: 9592359Abstract: A respiratory mask assembly includes a respiratory mask including a mask shell and a mask cushion, a forehead support adjustably coupled to the mask, and an angular adjustment member. The forehead support includes a joining member provided to the mask shell and a cushion frame pivotally mounted to the joining member. The cushion frame is adapted to be selectively locked against pivotal movement in at least three predetermined angular positions relative to the joining member by a tongue and slot arrangement. The angular adjustment member allows relative angular adjustment between the cushion frame and the joining member. The angular adjustment member includes a pair of flexible arms that are adapted to be flexed towards one another to disengage the tongue from a respective one of the slots, and releasing the flexible arms allows the flexible arms to resiliently flex away from one another to engage the tongue and the respective slot.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2012Date of Patent: March 14, 2017Assignee: ResMed LimitedInventors: Philip R. Kwok, Michael K. Gunaratnam, Perry D. Lithgow, Jonathan P. Harrison, Jonathan L. Liston, Robert S. Matchett, Robert E. Styles

Patent number: 9168349Abstract: A respiratory mask assembly for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a frame and a headgear assembly removably attachable to the frame. The headgear assembly includes a pair of side portions and a rear portion that interconnects the pair of side portions. The pair of side portions includes at least one strap. The rear portion has at least one strap constructed of at least two layers of material. One of the layers of material has a more rigid construction than the other of the layers of material to resist compression of the at least one strap of the rear portion in a first direction which resists movement of the at least one strap of the pair of side straps in the first direction.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2013Date of Patent: October 27, 2015Assignee: RESMED LIMITEDInventors: Amal S. Amarasinghe, Perry D. Lithgow, Memduh Guney

Patent number: 8985117Abstract: A nasal assembly for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a frame having an integrally formed first connector portion. A nozzle assembly includes a gusset or base portion and a pair of nozzles. At least one inlet conduit is structured to deliver breathable gas into the frame and nozzle assembly for breathing by the patient. A pair of second connector portions are removably and rotatably connected to respective first connector portions of the frame and are in communication with respective inlet conduits, e.g., directly or via angle connectors. A headgear assembly is removably connected to the pair of second connector portions and/or the angle connectors so as to maintain the frame and the nozzle assembly in a desired adjusted position on the patient's face.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2012Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: ResMed LimitedInventors: Michael K. Gunaratnam, Philip R. Kwok, Robin G. Hitchcock, Lee J. Veliss, Memduh Guney, Richard Sokolov, Perry D. Lithgow, Donald Darkin, Susan R. Lynch
