  • Publication number: 20030143023
Abstract: A reactive speed hump (2) includes a fluid flow control valve assembly (4). A first valve (18, 20, 21) is naturally open and a second A valve (10, 14, 15, 16, 17), naturally closed. Application of fluid pressure on the control valve assembly below a first lower threshold level or above a second higher threshold level allows a flow of fluid from the inlet to the outlet, but an application of fluid pressure on the control valve between said first and second threshold levels allows substantially no fluid to flow between the inlet (7) and the outlet (9).

  • Publication number: 20030050527
Abstract: Disclosed are apparatus and methods for delivery of transcranial magnetic stimulation. The apparatus includes a TMS coil which when energized generates an electric field substantially parallel to a long axis of the coil and substantially normal to a surface of the coil. Furthermore disclosed an apparatus for delivery of TMS in which a coil is adapted to a robotic member for computer-aided control and delivery. Further disclosed are methods of TMS planning and delivery in which subject images are utilized to plan, position and orient the TMS coil for precise delivery. Disclosed also are TMS coils having unique designs to better focus and direct magnetic stimulation.

  • Patent number: 6527317
Abstract: A motor-vehicle front end having a front bumper and a front covering which is mounted behind it, the front covering being mounted pivotably on a load-bearing structural member and in a frontal impact being pivoted rearwards about an approximately horizontal vehicle transverse axis by being carried along by the bumper by the rearwards displacement of an associated region of the bumper, a support being provided between a rear supporting surface of the bumper and a mating surface of the front covering for the purpose of carrying along the said front covering. In order to be able to reduce the space required for the arrangement in the motor-vehicle front end without incurring losses in its functioning, the front covering is suspended in a pendulous manner on the load-bearing structural member at a distance above the bumper and in its lower region is fastened permanently to the supporting surface of the bumper by the mating surface.

  • Patent number: 6418157
Abstract: A roof (3) for a metallurgical ladle/furnace (L.A.F) (1) comprising a self-supporting structure of metallic pipework (4) defining at least one flow circuit for cooling water, with a lower end having a circular peripheral flange (A), with a cylindrical body member (c) of smaller diameter than the flange (A) located above the flange (A) (in use away from the ladle/furnace), and is provided with an end wall (14) having a plurality of apertures (14) each to receive, in a gas-tight manner, a carbon electrode (8), and an aperture (5) for fume extraction provided in the arcuate wall (16) of the cylindrical body member.

  • Patent number: 6041854
Abstract: A water cooled panel (1), e.g. for metallurgical use, is constructed from a plurality of rectangular hollow section tube lengths (2), with adjacent tube lengths oriented corner-to-corner in a diamond array, with geometrical diagonals (4) of the tubes in a common plane (5), or generally so, and with means (6, 7, 12) to secure the tubes in such orientation, and with means (14-20) to ensure water flow communication between an end portion of one tube length (2) and an end portion of an adjacent tube length (2).

  • Patent number: 5915287
Abstract: A harmonica is provided with three diatonic reed harps vertically aligned in a single housing. The three diatonic reed harps are in communication with a central mouthpiece. The reed harps are in different keys. Two movable sliders block the air channel to two of the three reed harps at any one time. The sliders are caused to move to blocking or unblocking positions through the actuation of a pair of buttons. The first button and the second button engage and disengage elongated slide members which are aligned in horizontal relation with each of the three diatonic reeds, either blocking or unblocking the air passage therethrough, thus preventing their ability to make sound. Through manipulation of the pair of buttons, the user may select any one of three harps to play. When both buttons are disengaged, the central harp is open, and the top and bottom harps are blocked. When the front button is engaged, the lower harp is open, and the top and middle harps are blocked.
