Abstract: This invention provides a single unit called a personal communicator that combines the functions of a cell phone (or mobile phone), a body-supported computer and a pager.

Abstract: A compact, light weight head mounted display in which a pair of matrix display elements are mounted within a housing. The display utilizes a pair of arms or stems that are rotatable mounted to the housing such that the user can pivot each arm from a folded position into an open position. The arms can be spring mounted onto the housing to secure the display to the user's head and can also incorporate earphones that can be retracted into each arm when not in use.

Abstract: A color active matrix display system allows random access of pixel electrodes. The control electronics is fabricated with the active matrix circuitry using single crystal silicon technology. The control electronics includes a random access data scanner and random access spec scanners. By selectively actuating pixel electrodes in the active matrix display region, compressed video information can be directly displayed on the active matrix display panel. Color stripes are used to generate sequential color systems to produce a color image from the active matrix display panel.

Abstract: This novel Head Mounted Display (HMD) has a removable communications unit which can be interchangeably worn on the right or left side of the user. Thus, users having a hearing deficiency in one ear can use the opposite ear. Also, the HMD has a fully adjustable eyepiece which can be swung out of the way when not in use or can be used adjacent either eye. An important feature of this invention is an eye guard which prevents the eyepiece from striking the user's eye or face portion.

Abstract: A monocular head mounted display system in which a matrix display element is mounted within a housing that is positioned relative to one eye of the user to display information. The display is connected to a video or information source such that the user can view information or images shown on the display. The display can be mounted to a frame so that the user can move the display in and out of the user's filed of view without adjusting the supporting harness that holds the display on the user's head.

Abstract: A Head Mounted Display (HMD) having both single viewing capability and group viewing capability is provided. The eyepiece of the HMD can be either converted to a group viewing projector or can be replaced or interchangeable with a group viewing unit.

Abstract: This computer structure provides a body-worn computer that is easily converted into a conventional or laptop computer. Also, the housing for this computer is symetrical so that when turned upside down the cables and cable connections always face the back of the user. A stand is provided in the housing for use when converting to a conventional computer. This stand doubles as a belt loop when the computer is used as a mobile body-worn computer.

This body-worn computer has a compartment for enclosing the entire PC card being used, and a second compartment for housing a removable hard drive. Abstract: A head-mounted visual display apparatus for displaying an image generated by an image generator to a wearer of the apparatus. The visual display apparatus comprises a helmet (10) comprising a shell and a headband (66) engaged to an interior surface of the shell; an adjustment mechanism (90) mounted to an exterior surface of the helmet for adjusting the size of the headband; and a video display (18,20) housed within the helmet and connected to the image generator for displaying the image. In a preferred embodiment the adjustment mechanism includes a knob (90) mounted on an exterior surface of the shell and connected to the headband by a rotatable shaft (99) disposed through the shell between the knob and the headband.
