  • Publication number: 20070140741
Abstract: Controlling the charge on toner in a development station of an electrographic reproduction apparatus, wherein data relative to latent image charge carrying member voltage and image density control patches are sensed and development potential to achieve an aim density is calculated therefrom. A delta from an optimum development potential range is calculated, and in response to the determined delta, an amount of liquid charge control agent, from a supply of suitable liquid charge control agent, necessary to be added to the developer material in the development station to bring the toner to substantially a charge level that will enable a desired optimum developer potential is calculated. The calculated amount of liquid charge control agent is then injected directly into the development station.

  • Publication number: 20060269331
Abstract: A controllable dry ink developer station warmer in association with an electrographic reproduction apparatus dry ink developer station having a housing containing developer material including dry ink and carrier particles and a monitor to measure concentration of dry ink in the developer material in the developer station. The dry ink developer station warmer includes at least one heater element associated with the developer station. A control for the warmer attached to the heater element maintains the heater element at a temperature which enables developer material to remain at a substantially constant temperature and water content resulting in a more stable charge level and contributing to a more consistent charging rate for add-mixed dry ink, and keep the dry ink concentration monitor at a substantially constant temperature, whereby the effects of temperature sensitivity on the concentration monitor are substantially decreased.

  • Publication number: 20050095521
Abstract: A method of producing a custom color particulate toner for use in a two-component developer by mixing two or more component color toners. The component color toners are each surface treated with a blend of two or more types of silica particles, which differ in the functional groups appended to them. The silica blend for each component color toner is chosen so that, when the component color toners are mixed together to form the custom color mixture, they will all tribocharge to the same charge-to-mass ratio when mixed with a carrier to form a developer.

  • Patent number: 6692880
Abstract: Toner formulations and developers containing the toner formulations are described. The toner contains at least one toner resin, at least one first charge control agent capable of providing a consistent level of charge, at least one second charge control agent capable of providing a sustained level of charge, at least one surface treatment agent, and at least one release agent and optionally at least one colorant. The toners of the present invention preferably provide a consistent level of charge of from about −10 to about −30 micro C/gm and also provide this level of charge for a sustained period of time, such as from about 2 to about 10 minutes. The toners of the present invention also provides excellent ruboff values for an image printed from the toners of the present invention. Methods of improving ruboff are described as well as methods to develop an image using the toner of the present invention.
