  • Publication number: 20060162973
Abstract: An hybrid power supply module is disclosed. The hybrid power supply module is configured for placement in a battery compartment of an electrically powered machine and includes a housing that contains a battery, an electrical generator or fuel cell, and control electronics. The housing is sized to fit in the host electrically-powered machine's battery compartment. The battery and electrical power generator or fuel cell are coupled electrically to the electronic controls. A method of replacing a battery.in an electric powered machine with a renewable power source is also disclosed. The method includes uncoupling the battery from the machine, removing the battery from a battery compartment of the machine, placing the hybrid power supply module in the battery compartment, and coupling the hybrid power supply module to the machine.

  • Patent number: 5701966
Abstract: Self-propelled vehicle for ground handling of equipment supportable by a pair of skids engageable by a lifting element and a stabilizing element. The vehicle has a front chassis rotatably connected to a rear chassis for relative tilting movement in a plane transverse to a longitudinal vehicle axis. Each chassis is supported by a pair of independently driven omnidirectional wheels for movement of the vehicle over the ground in any azimuthal direction. Mounted on the rear chassis is a lift assembly of adjustable transverse width for engaging the skids with the lifting elements and lifting the equipment to an elevated position for transport over the ground. A stabilizer assembly of adjustable transverse width is also mounted on the rear chassis, but extends through and in front of the front chassis for engaging the skids with the stabilizing elements to prevent fore/aft teetering movement of the elevated equipment.

  • Patent number: 3969976
Abstract: An improved expansion unit made from heavy sheet metal for use in supporting a ceiling or roof, particularly a mine roof, comprises a wedge and a cylindrical expansion shell having a taper provided by a plurality of lateral serrations. The serrations are of gradually diminishing height designed to ensure a uniformly parallel expansion of the shell in the pre-drilled hole of the roof when the wedge is driven downwardly.
