  • Patent number: 4178978
Abstract: A manual operator for a coiling door has a reel mounted for free rotation on a shaft supporting drums to which the coiling door is secured. An endless flexible non-extensible element is mounted on the reel with a sufficient number of turns thereon for complete opening or closing of the door and the reel is secured to the adjacent one of the door supporting drums. The resilient non-extensible element is manually drawn to open or close the door and may be provided with hand holds to facilitate grasping thereof. A guide for the flexible non-extensible element may be secured adjacent the reel to guide the flexible non-extensible element onto and off of the reel.

  • Patent number: 4118817
Abstract: A toe guard is provided for a pivotable dock board in which the toe guard includes two relatively telescopically mounted plates for increasing the vertical height of protection at each side of the dock board. A dock board to which the present invention is applicable includes a ramp that is designed for pivoted mounting in a pit formed in a loading dock. This ramp includes an upper transport plate which alternatively forms a contiguous surface portion of the dock or may be pivoted to a relatively depressed or relatively elevated position with respect to the dock to permit transfer and transport of persons and equipment between the dock and an adjacently positioned vehicle. The sides of the ramp form an exposed area when the ramp is elevated with respect to the dock and toe guards are provided to prevent injury to personnel who may be standing closely adjacent to the dock and may inadvertently place their feet into the operating space of the ramp and possibly result in personal injury.

  • Patent number: 4047258
Abstract: A loading dock board or ramp is provided having a counterbalanced, extendable lip incorporating a releasable lock mechanism. The dock board is provided with a projecting lip pivoted to the outer end of a platform and includes mechanisms for automatically raising or swinging the lip to an upwardly elevated or projected position. A counter-balance spring is included in the structure for assisting in the upward swinging movement of the lip and is structurally combined with a lip lock mechanism to maintain the lip in the projected position. This lip lock includes an automatically releasable mechanism which responds to a rearwardly directed force applied to the edge of the lip when thus elevated, to overcome to counter-balance spring and effect release of the lock thereby permitting the lip to swing by gravity to a dependent position.

  • Patent number: 3982295
Abstract: A loading dock leveling apparatus including a ramp pivotable about its rear end and having a pivotable lip on its forward end. Apparatus is provided for projecting the lip outwardly after the ramp is raised beginning when the ramp is walked down to provide that the lip will engage the bed of a vehicle to be loaded or unloaded. The projecting apparatus includes a knuckle joint which pivots to projecting position on the ramp upswing and which is subsequently pivoted by a lever to release the projecting apparatus during the walk down but before the ramp descends to the highest serviceable vehicle level. A lip lock is provided for holding the lip in its projected position until the lip rests on the bed of the vehicle to be unloaded or until the ramp passes well below dock level and the lip lock is disengaged by a lip lock release.
