  • Patent number: 8583278
Abstract: Objects such as flat items of mail are processed. In a registration sorting run, the objects pass through a registration sorting system and are moved thereafter into a temporary storage device. For each object, a response message is generated and transmitted to a message address. At each predetermined execution time, an execution pass is performed in which the objects are taken from the temporary storage device and passed through an execution sorting system. If a response message which specifies an action is present for the object, the object is moved to a workstation where the specified action is carried out. Otherwise, the object is moved back into the temporary storage device. In a preferably subsequent storage period, an object is taken from the temporary storage device, and moved to a workstation, when a response message is present for this object.

  • Publication number: 20110127323
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for transporting a plurality of articles, particularly, mail items. For each article a measurement is taken regarding what value a prescribed feature and what value a prescribed transportation attribute assume for the article. A data record for this article with the measured transportation attribute value and the measured feature value is produced. This data record is stored in a mobile data memory of a means of a transport. The articles are put into the means of transport and transported in the means of transport to an intermediate point. Following this transportation, for each article another measurement is taken regarding what value the feature assumes for this article. The mobile data memory is searched for that data record for the article for which the feature value ascertained during the fresh measurement is used. Further transportation of the article is initiated on the basis of the transportation attribute value of the ascertained data record.

  • Publication number: 20050045531
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the manual merging of manually processable mail flats with mail items sorted automatically in a sorting machine according to a distribution sequence and deposited on a section conveyor, which transports the mail items in the sections to a collection station, at which the mail items are stacked automatically in collectors in the distribution sequence. The divider cards identifying delivery points, which are so large and stable that they form compartments between the mail items in the collector, are automatically inserted before or after the mail items for a delivery point or delivery point area. The collectors are only filled with mail items and divider cards to such a level that there is still space for the mail items to be merged manually. The collectors are then transported to the competent delivery office, where the manually processable mail items are inserted into the corresponding compartments according to their delivery address.

  • Patent number: 6747231
Abstract: A sorting arrangement for flat items of mail, has a plurality of containers (1) which circulate in a conveying loop with at least two semicircular conveying sections (2) and are intended for laterally receiving, for transporting and for discharging in a controllable manner in each case one item of mail standing on a narrow side, and a plurality of depositing receptacles (4) which are arranged along the conveying arrangement, beneath the containers (1), and are open at the top. The lateral openings of the containers (1), for loading purposes, are located in the interior of the conveying loop, and the transporting element (7) of the material infeed is arranged within the conveying loop, and transports the items of mail into the lateral openings of the containers (1) in a horizontally aligned semicircular conveying section.

  • Publication number: 20040103107
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for sorting items which are provided with delivery information. The method includes the use of a continuous sorting conveyor having a given determining path and a plurality of determining path elements. The elements are respectively divided into a number of determining sections. The determining sections have a plurality of consecutive determining positions.

  • Patent number: 5876028
Abstract: In a device for stacking flat letters having a separating mechanism and a stacking mechanism between which the letters are stacked, the stacking mechanism capable of moving in the stacking direction along a stacking surface, and a transport path that is formed by endless vertical belts guided by way of rollers, between which belts the letters are conveyed from a loading station to the stacking mechanism, it is provided that the stacking surface has a horizontal concave curvature with respect to the side on which the transport path is located, and that the belts are deflected in the region of the transport path by a plurality of deflecting rollers that are disposed on a curve adapted to the curvature of the stacking surface in such a way that the transport path has a curvature adapted to that of the stacking surface, in the region of the transport path, the belts being disposed between the stacking surface and the deflecting rollers.

  • Patent number: 4304024
Abstract: A de-icing device comprises a lighter and a flame tube inserted thereon and provided with aligned openings through which a key can be inserted for exposure to the heat of the lighter flame. The lighter and the flame tube are partially accommodated in housing; the parts of the lighter and the flame tube that project from the housing are covered by a removable top closure which, when in place, constitutes an entirely closed casing together with the housing. On the outside of the housing and the top closure there are formed matching length portions of a scraper edge for using the device as an ice scraper when the top closure is in place.
