  • Patent number: 7792179
Abstract: An efficient scheme for CDMA coding constructs codes by generating longer code sequences (430) via concatenation, from an existing set of short sequences (410, 420). The sequences may be spreading, scrambling and or training or channel estimation (such as midamble) sequences. The invention allows extension of sequences without performing an exhaustive search for sequences with optimal desired properties, as well as extension of the sequence duration to improve the detection of wanted signals via the use of a conventional matched filter, a multi-user detector or an adaptive filter/equaliser.

  • Publication number: 20100111354
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for assessment, evaluation and grading of gemstones has a stage (11) upon which a gemstone may be supported, the stage being enclosed in a housing (15) that is impervious to light. At least one light source (14) located in the housing is adapted to project incident light onto the gemstone. There are means for rotating and tilting the stage so as to vary the orientation of the gemstone to the incident light. A digital camera (16) is located in the housing adjacent the or each light source and is adapted to take images of the gemstone based on reflection and/or refraction of the incident light. There are also information processing means for calibrating and analysing the images, with the information processing means being programmed with an instruction set for colour calibrating the images and then analysing the colour calibrated images by segmentation and histogram measurement.

  • Patent number: 7681358
Abstract: A pot cover with a matte finish is formed from a series of layers laminated together. The layer comprise a biaxially oriented film layer having a heat sealable matte finish skin on one side and is laminated to a corona treated side of a polyethylene film interlayer with a heat sealable layer on the other side thereof. An aluminum foil is then laminated to the heat sealable able layer of the interlayer. This laminated product may then be formed under heat and vacuum using coming molding techniques to a most desirable pot cover for flowers or plants.

  • Publication number: 20090203406
Abstract: An antenna for communicating with mobile devices in a land-based cellular communication system via an antenna beam having a width, azimuth angle and downtilt angle. The antenna includes: a two dimensional array of radiating elements (31-34); and a feed network (35-39) from a feed line to the radiating elements. The feed network includes: downtilt phase shifting means (35,36) for varying the phase of signals supplied to or received from the radiating elements so as to vary the downtilt angle of the antenna beam; azimuth phase shifting (38,39) means for varying the phase of signals supplied to or received from the radiating elements so as to vary the azimuth angle of the antenna beam; and beam width adjustment means (37) for varying the power or phase of signals supplied to or received from the radiating elements so as to vary the width of the antenna beam.

  • Patent number: 7478986
Abstract: A lockable nut system for use with threaded steel bar which includes a screw threaded nut for engagement with the threaded steel bar and a locking member which is slidably engageable with the bar. The locking member is adapted to resist rotation about the bar and is also axially engageable with the nut to prevent rotation of the nut. The locking member has one or more fingers to engage the nut with an end of the finger being displaced to engage the nut as a result of deformation of a finger actuating tab or a dished body of the locking member. The locking member may engage the bar by displacement of an end of at least one tongue as a result of deformation of a tongue actuating tab during compression between the nut and a second structure.

  • Patent number: 7242908
Abstract: A method and arrangement (100) for PRACH burst channel detection in a UTRA TDD wireless communication system in which training sequences are constructed from a single periodic base code. Unwanted cross-correlation peaks, having magnitude less than correlation peaks, are removed (440) from the correlator outputs, maintaining optimal signal-to-noise ratio of the channel estimates, providing a low probability of false detection, and extending the cell size of a CDMA network to that determined by the guard period duration. The cell size can be extended further by ensuring that no transmissions are scheduled for the timeslot subsequent to that in which the channel estimation bursts are scheduled.
