  • Patent number: 8858582
Abstract: A lancet device including a lancet having a puncturing element disposed within a two-piece housing including a rear housing and a forward housing. Relative axial movement of the rear housing toward the forward housing directly drives the lancet to a puncturing position wherein the puncturing element extends through the forward housing. During such relative axial movement, a drive structure applies a driving force against the lancet and disengages from the lancet based on deflecting structure in the housing, thereby releasing the driving force applied to the lancet. A retention member then retracts the lancet back within the housing, with the drive structure maintained disengaged from the lancet to prevent re-use.

  • Patent number: 8109910
Abstract: There's provided a flip-top cannula assembly including a cannula having a cannula seal for receiving a range of surgical instruments having a first predetermined diameter and a reducer cap movably mounted on the cannula. The reducer cap includes a reducer seal having an opening which is substantially smaller than that of a cannula seal associated with the cannula for receiving a range of surgical instruments having a diameter smaller than that of the first predetermined diameter. In the disclosed embodiments, the reducer seal is movable from a closed position wherein the reducer seal overlies the cannula seal to effectively reduce the seal opening of the cannula to a closed position wherein the reducer seal is spaced apart from the cannula seal.

  • Patent number: 8038668
Abstract: A cryosurgery device for dispensing a liquid refrigerant from a container having a valve stem extending outwardly therefrom. The device includes an actuator adapted to seat on the valve stem of the container in order to depress the valve stem to release the refrigerant from the container. The actuator includes an inner passageway having opposed ends disposed therein, one of the ends of the passageway being in fluid communication with the valve stem. An applicator tube is mounted to the actuator at the other end of the inner passageway. A cap is disposed on the top of the container. The actuator is movably positioned on the cap and a shield is attached to the cap to completely receiving the applicator tube. Liquid refrigerant can only be dispensed when the actuator is positioned properly and the applicator tube is disposed within the shield means.

  • Patent number: 7735259
Abstract: An adjustable plant stake assembly having cross braces, stake anchors and couplers is provided that can be used with conventional plant stakes. The cross braces extend between two adjacent plant stakes and are adjustable in length to adjust the spacing between the stakes. The stake anchors support the stakes and include a step portion that enables the anchor to be driven into the ground by stepping on the step. As the plant grows in height, each plant stake can be lengthened by connecting an additional plant stake to the top of the existing stake using one of the couplers. A kit including the plant stakes, cross braces, stake anchors and couplers is also included.
