  • Publication number: 20180046156
Abstract: A system and method for controlling an appliance with respect to the appliance's noise level, in which a signal relating to the noise level emitted by the appliance is received, and a determination of whether to continue or interrupt a cycle of operation being conducted by the appliance is made based at least on part upon the receipt of the signal.

  • Publication number: 20140043479
Abstract: The present vehicle vision system enhances visibility internally and externally with respect to the vehicle. A vision system is provided which is configured to switch between a plurality of modes. The system further includes a far-field effect which alters the focal length of the display in the vision system so as to reduce driver eye strain during operation. The vision system may be incorporated into various locations throughout the vehicle (e.g., the vehicle overhead console).

  • Patent number: 8200214
Abstract: A method is provided for connecting an in-vehicle communication system to a plurality of wireless communication networks, including a mobile telephony network and an internet protocol network. The in-vehicle communication system is configured to roam between the plurality of wireless communication networks, wherein the method includes the step of receiving a first wireless communication signal from one of the plurality of wireless communication networks. The method also includes the step of detecting a second wireless communication signal from a second of the plurality of wireless communication networks. The method further includes the step of determining an intensity level of the first and second wireless communication signals. The method further includes the step of switching the in-vehicle communication system to one of the plurality of wireless communication networks based on the intensity level of the first and second wireless communication signals.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 12, 2012
    Assignee: Johnson Controls Technology Company
Inventors: Richard J. Chutorash, Brian K. Servis, Peter C. Laux
  • Publication number: 20110261970
Abstract: An overhead audio system for use in a vehicle, the overhead audio system includes multiplexor for receiving an input signal from a plurality of audio sources and for transmitting an output signal; a noise detection sensor for detecting a noise and providing noise data; an audio processor for processing the output signal received from the multiplexor and for receiving the noise data from the noise detection sensor, wherein the audio processor processes the output signal based on the noise data and transmits the processed output signal to a speaker; and wherein the overhead audio system is housed within a headliner of the vehicle.
