  • Patent number: 7219881
Abstract: A shock absorber (1), in particular for bicycles, has a first cylinder (2a) with a fluid chamber (3a) filled with a transmission or damping medium. An outwardly leading piston rod (6) with piston (5a) for receiving the shocks to be dampened is borne axially displaceable in the first cylinder (2a). A second cylinder (2b) that has a fluid chamber (3b) filled with the transmission or damping medium and an air- or gas-filled gas pressure chamber (4b). The fluid chambers (3a, 3b) of the first and second cylinders (2a, 2b) communicate with one another via a communicating channel (7). At least a third cylinder (3c) [sic] with an air- or gas-filled gas pressure chamber (4c) and a fluid chamber (3c) filled with the transmission or damping medium is provided.

  • Publication number: 20050252330
Abstract: A switch apparatus (5) for adjusting the compression and/or damping properties of a shock absorber (2) has an operating element (8) that is actuatingly linked to the shock absorber (2) and has at least one control device (6) that is connected to the adjusting elements of the at least one shock absorber (2) to be adjusted. Allocated to the at least one control device (6) is a single, common operating element (8) for selectively or reciprocally adjusting both the compression and the damping properties of the shock absorber or shock absorbers (2). The actuating links between control device (6) and shock absorber (2) and between control device (6) and operating element (8) are each formed by one or a plurality of Bowden cables (7a, 7b) or by one or a plurality of hydraulic or pneumatic line(s) or a mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6471197
Abstract: The invention relates to a spring device in a shock absorber having an adjusting mechanism (18; 52).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 22, 2000
Date of Patent: October 29, 2002

  • Patent number: 6357772
Abstract: A flat four-link rear axle with favorable dynamic properties is presented. The essential aspect lies in that the lower transverse control arm (1), the upper transverse control arm (2) and a compensating control arm (3) are arranged one behind the other (in the direction of travel), so that a spring (15) for supporting the wheel suspension on the body can be supported on the lower transverse control arm (1). The space created by shifting the transverse control arms makes it possible to use a barrel spring with progressive spring characteristic. The associated shock absorber (16) is arranged between the upper transverse control arm (2) and the compensating control arm (3), and its lower fixing eye (26) is mounted in the lower region of the axle carrier (4) so that the upper end of the shock absorber does not extend very far beyond the upper transverse control arm (2) compared with known solutions.
