  • Patent number: 6750576
Abstract: If an interturn short-circuit occurs in a stator coil winding of a permanent magnet excited electric machine, a short-circuit current is produced there that results in an electrically induced magnetic alternating flux which corresponds in its value to the permanent magnetic alternating flux flowing through the respective winding and which is opposite in phase. Such a sort-circuit current could lead to burn-off of the turn due to its considerable strength and the loss associated therewith. To prevent this, the invention suggests in case of detection of an interturn short-circuit, to entirely short-circuit at least the coil affected by the short-circuit or to apply thereto a corresponding in-phase current and to reduce the excessive short-circuit current in the individual turn or in the individual turn section by way of this overall short-circuit current in the coil. It is thus possible to prevent burn-off of the respective turn part.

  • Publication number: 20040061336
Abstract: For enhancing the operational safety of an electric drive unit of a vehicle comprising a generator (G), which is operated by a combustion machine (V), and drive motors (M1, M2), which are connected to said generator via a direct-voltage intermediate circuit, the generator and drive motors are each subdivided into partial units (TG1, TG2; TM11-TM22), and these partial units have partial power electronics units (TGLE1, TGLE2; TM1LE1, TM1LE2 . . . ) associated therewith. The mutually corresponding partial units of generator, motors and power electronics units each constitute a drive circuit (AK1, AK2) of their own, with control signals being supplied to components thereof by a specifically assigned system control unit (1, 2). The system control units that are interconnected via an information exchange channel (IAK) can undertake compensation measures in their drive circuit or in the other drive circuits in the event of a complete or partial failure of a drive circuit (AK1, AK2).

  • Patent number: 6472966
Abstract: For obtaining a compact superconductive power switch for rapid switching speeds and with high dielectric strength, several winding layers (10a . . . 10h) with several windings each are lined up adjacent each other in axial direction. Between individual layers (10a . . . 10h), there are provided cooling/heating elements (8a to 8d) in order to transfer the high-current switch unit (1) to the superconducting state and the normally conducting state, respectively, by cooling/heating, i.e. for closing and opening said unit, respectively. Mutually adjacent current conductors have the switching current flowing therethrough in opposite directions, so that the high-current switch unit (1) is of low induction, which permits fast switching times in particular when the switch is opened by an additional current pulse.

  • Patent number: 5486727
Abstract: A linear accelerator has at least one longitudinal stator section that defines a linear path of movement and that comprises several stator coils as well as a rotor with several rotor coils that can be accelerated along the path of movement. The stator is designed as a tubular body from the inner wall of which project coil carriers with coil conductors that are mutually offset by 90 degrees. The cavities thus formed are engaged by the rotor coils that comprise each an electrically non-conductive carrier on the sides on which are arranged meandering coil conductors. The design and arrangement of the rotor coils and stator coils allow a circular magnetic field to be generated, with the result that the rotor is axially accelerated. The rotor is supplied with current by conductor rails by a cable entrained with the rotor an/or by charge accumulation in the coils before acceleration begins.

  • Patent number: 5200660
Abstract: An electric machine includes an armature which has a permanent-magnetic excitation part of the machine and a stator which has an induction part of the machine. The induction part includes a first and a second region, each region equipped with current conductors. The armature and the stator are movable relative to each other. The machine includes an electronic commutator which has electronic components. An adjustment to purposefully change a voltage induced in the induction part during operation of the machine, by adjustment of the relative phase of the voltages induced in the two regions of the induction part is achievable due to the first region of the induction part being physically adjustable relative to the second region of the induction part in the direction of relative movement of the armature and the stator. In addition, a sensor is provided in the second region for detecting the instantaneous relative position of the armature and the stator.
