  • Patent number: 8359911
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for checking the function of a tank venting valve between the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine and a fuel tank or a fuel vapor reservoir in which the tank venting valve in operation of the internal combustion engine is opened several times and is closed again after a short opening time and in which during repeated opening and closing the time characteristic of a quantity which is dependent on the opening state of the tank venting valve is recorded. In order to enable a reliable function check of the tank venting valve even in the case of very small and/or time-shifted amplitudes of the quantity to be monitored, it is proposed, according to the invention, that the first derivative of the time characteristic of the quantity be evaluated.

  • Patent number: 5128848
Abstract: Given is an operating light, with one or several spotlights, each with a light source, that is shielded by a counter reflector in the direction of radiation. The stream of light is focused by the counter reflector and a reflector onto an optical system closing off the housing in the direction of radiation. To guarantee a homogeneous illumination of deeper surgical wounds also, the optical system is structured as a Fresnel lens made up of annular prisms that contain a dioptric central region and a catadioptric edge (rim) region. The slope of the flanks and the height of the annular prisms are dimensioned such that the light beams emanating from the Fresnel lens cut the optical axis at a distance that is all the greater the shorter the distance with which the light beams emanate from the Fresnel lens is away from the optical axis.

  • Patent number: 5029331
Abstract: A method and apparatus for editing a high-convolutional code for transmisison and its reconversion at a receiver using code puncturing n-output bit streams of a convolutional encoder. The device includes parallel switched data rearrangers at the transmitter provided with control switching circuits which evenly distribute bit streams to the transmission channels. At the receiver, a de-puncturer processes all transmission channels in parallel, downstream of which dummy bits are inserted by a multiplexer and a convolutional decoder subsequently decodes the received data.

  • Patent number: 4884008
Abstract: To provide for automatic adjustment of the light field of an operating room light in accordance with manual positioning of the light, an electrical servo control loop positions the respective lamps and/or deflection mirrors of circularly placed light sources (2) in the housing (1) to iluminate a given field in a given plane. The distance of the lamp from the given field is determined by an ultrasonic distance sensor (5; 5a, 5b, 5c) to provide one input to the servo loop, for comparison of the positioning of the light source to illuminate said field. If the distance of the illuminated field increases, the angular position of the light sources is automatically adjusted to provide the field at the increased distance. If the distance decreases, however, no adjustment is carried out unless an operator touches an operating handle. This is transformed into a manual readjustment signal which releases the servo system to then readjust the position of the light sources.
