  • Patent number: 4591343
Abstract: A walker-sailor watercraft which can be used for either walking or sailing on the surface of a body of water includes separate right and left walker members, each walker member including a foot cavity, a support member, a hollow seat member and a storage member, a sail mounting platform which is fixedly connectable between the support members of the walker members and otherwise storable in the hollow seat member on one of the walker members, a sail structure which is mountable on the sail mounting platform and otherwise storable in the storage members of one of the walker members, and a rudder structure which is mountable on the trailing end of one of the walker members and otherwise storable in the hollow seat member of the other of the walker members.

  • Patent number: 4541809
Abstract: A water glider assembly includes two water glider members and a separate elongated stabilizer cartridge which can be inserted between the glider members to connect them together and eliminate not only lateral and vertical separations, but also individual sideways rotation of each glider member, while at the same time allow for free parallel movements therebetween. One or the other of the glider members can be partially disconnected from the stabilizer cartridge during use of the assembly so that its direction of orientation can be changed, thereby enabling the user to easily change the direction of movement of the assembly as a whole. The stabilizer cartridge is provided with a releasable locking mechanism for alternately locking the stabilizer cartridge to both water glider members for assembly and transportation as well as alternately locking the stabilizer to one water glider member when the assembly is in use for gliding on water.

  • Patent number: 4261069
Abstract: A water walker which is attachable to a user's foot and which, when used in pairs, i.e., one walker for each of a user's feet, allows the user to move across the surface of a body of water while standing upright, includes a buoyant flotation member, a pair of spaced apart runners longitudinally extending along the bottom of the buoyant member, and at least one water control mechanism in the space between the runners. Each control mechanism includes opposed baffles which extend towards one another a distance less than one half the spacing between the runners, and a pivotable gate which is positioned to allow water to pass between the baffles when the walker is moved forward, but which is biased so as to be repositioned to prevent water from passing between the baffles once the walker has completed its forward movement. Each buoyant flotation member includes an overhang portion on the side thereof opposite the adjacent member to enhance the stability of the walker.

  • Patent number: 4117562
Abstract: A water walker for enabling an individual to walk upon water including a pair of elongated buoyant water walker assemblies which can be attached to the feet of the user. Each assembly includes a buoyant flotation member which has a runner longitudinally extending along a substantial portion of the bottom of the buoyant member. The runner has a hollow section which is open at both longitudinal ends and is closed at the bottom by a cover member, thereby forming an effective jet water chamber through the hollow chamber. A control mechanism is arranged within this hollow section of the runner and is movable between a first position allowing water to pass through the hollow section when the assembly is moved in a forward direction and a second position blocking the passage of water through the hollow chamber and hence preventing slippage of the assembly in a rearward direction.

  • Patent number: 3936897
Abstract: Buoyant water-walking apparatus including a pair of elongated, buoyant, water-walker assemblies adapted for attachment to the feet of a user for the purpose of supporting the weight of the user and enabling him to propel himself over the water. Each of the assemblies comprises a rigid, elongated base member and at least one buoyant flotation member carried by the base member. Additional buoyant flotation members may be added depending on the weight of the user. The flotation members are detachably secured to the base member.
