  • Patent number: 6439786
Abstract: A printer including a single motor which provides rotary motion to a feed drum having an outer surface which frictionally engages and pulls a web material from a roll rotatably mounted on a supply shaft. First and second pendulum systems, each including two pendulums independently mounted to the frame, pivotally mount a take-up shaft and a tension roller to tension the web as it comes off the feed drum and the roll, respectively. A print head carriage assembly is moveable along a pivot beam which extends orthogonally across the linear path from a first end position to a second end position. The single motor is coupled to the print head carriage assembly for reciprocally pushing and pulling the print head carriage assembly between first and second end positions.

  • Patent number: 6182818
Abstract: A conveyorized apparatus for performing work operations on one or more layers of sheet-type work material includes a frame having at least three flexible drive members coupled thereto for movement in a direction longitudinal of the frame. A plurality of slats are also provided, each extending transversely across the frame and positioned consecutively relative to one another. Each slat defines an upper surface, and a lower surface attached for movement to the flexible drive members. The upper surfaces of the plurality of slats, collectively define a supported adapted to carry the layers of work material thereon, during the performance of the work operations. The flexible advancing members and the slats are driven by a suitable drive, such as a motor.

  • Patent number: 6042095
Abstract: In an apparatus for retaining one or more layers of sheet type work material on a permeable support surface, at least two vacuum manifolds are positioned under the support surface, each defining at least one vacuum inlet for drawing vacuum therethrough. Proportional control valves are coupled to the manifolds for selectively controlling the location and intensity of the vacuum being drawn, such that work material positioned on the support surface is held thereto by the vacuum drawn through the inlets and the support surface. The intensity of the vacuum is selectively controlled by the valves to concentrate vacuum in the area along the work material where a work operation is being performed.

  • Patent number: 5938347
Abstract: In a bearing lubrication delivery mechanism, a primary member is supported for rotation about a first axis and defines a bore having a second axis approximately parallel to and radially offset from the first axis. A sleeve is positioned in the bore and at least two anti-friction bearings are slidably mounted on an exterior surface of the sleeve. The bearings support the sleeve in the bore for rotational motion relative to the primary member and in combination define a first and second side. The sleeve also defines a central lubricant reservoir for receiving a charge of lubricant. A fluid conduit leading to the first side of the anti-friction bearings is defined by the sleeve and an interior surface of the bore, and a radial flow path communicating with the central lubricant reservoir and the fluid conduit is defined by an inner end of the sleeve and an end wall of the bore.

  • Patent number: 5860750
Abstract: In an assembly including preloaded bearings, a sleeve is provided and has an exterior surface and an externally threaded section adjacent to an end of the sleeve. At least two bearings, each having an inner bearing race, an outer bearing race, and a plurality of rolling elements positioned between the inner and outer bearing races, are slidably mounted on the exterior surface of the sleeve. The sleeve further includes a bore extending part-way into the sleeve adjacent to the externally threaded section, the bore defining inner interior surface. A bearing retainer is also provided and includes an internally threaded section engaged with the external threads of the sleeve for urging the inner bearing race of one of the bearings toward the inner bearing race of the other bearing, thereby preloading the bearings.
