    Abstract: Aqueous release coating compositions for application to substrates having low absorption thereinto, excellent adhesion thereto, and easy and quick release and removal therefrom comprising:from about 3% to about 8% of polyvinyl alcohol;from about 9% to about 35% clay;from about 5% to about 12% of an adhesive binder; andfrom about 49% to about 75% of water.All percentages being by weight, based on the total weight of the aqueous release coating composition.The resulting release-coated substrates are also included in the inventive concept.
