  • Patent number: 4869257
Abstract: An improved ultrasonic mechanical sector scanning transducer assembly is disclosed. An ultrasonic transducer is disposed for movement within a generally tubular housing. A drive element extends longitudinally within the housing and is coupled for transmitting motion to the transducer. Power means produces oscillatory rotative movement of the drive element and transducer. A diaphragm seal, comprising a resilient tubular membrane, provides a liquid tight seal between longitudinally displaced interior sections of the housing. The tubular membrane has one relatively narrow end and flares along its length to a wider opposite end. The narrow end is bonded about the drive element. The wider end is affixed about the periphery of the housing. A coaxial cable is coupled to the transducer and extends to the exterior of the housing. The cable is wrapped within a spiral groove extending about the outer surface of a spool or reel mounted for movement in unison with the transducer.

  • Patent number: 4625731
Abstract: An ultrasonic medical diagnostic imaging system is disclosed having an articulated mounting structure for supporting a television image display monitor component. The structure includes a first arm mounted for pivotal movement about a first substantially vertical axis. A second arm is pivotally connected to the first arm for movement about a second movable vertical axis displaced from the first axis. Journaling structure couples the second arm to one axis side of the television monitor for tilting rotation of the monitor about a substantially horizontal axis. Elevator structure defines a vertical travel path of monitor position. Rack apparatus associated with the elevator facilitates locking the monitor at intermediate points along its vertical travel path. Spring bias apparatus applies an upward biasing force to counterbalance the weight of the monitor and the other vertically movable portions of the structure. Damping apparatus frictionally inhibits unattended movement of the monitor.
