Patent number: 11963324Abstract: Electronic equipment may include structured fabric. Structured fabric may be used as a protective case or cosmetic cover for an electronic device, may be used to form a band that holds an electronic device against a user's body, or may be used to cover one or more openings in an electronic device. Structured fabrics may be soft and pliable while maintaining the ability to hold a given shape without added support. Structured fabric may be formed by laminating fabric such as warp-knit fabric with a stiffener such as polymer film. Structured fabrics may include openings through which signals such as optical or audio signals pass. To maintain the geometry and shape of the openings in the structured fabric without covering the openings, the stiffener and adhesive that are attached to the fabric may be cut to form a pattern of openings that align with the openings in the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2021Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Yohji Hamada, John J. Publication number: 20240071593Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide smart alerts to users, e.g., alerts to users about diabetic states that are only provided when it makes sense to do so, e.g., when the system can predict or estimate that the user is not already cognitively aware of their current condition, e.g., particularly where the current condition is a diabetic state warranting attention. In this way, the alert or alarm is personalized and made particularly effective for that user. Such systems and methods still alert the user when action is necessary, e.g., a bolus or temporary basal rate change, or provide a response to a missed bolus or a need for correction, but do not alert when action is unnecessary, e.g., if the user is already estimated or predicted to be cognitively aware of the diabetic state warranting attention, or if corrective action was already taken.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Anna Leigh DAVIS, Scott M. Patent number: 9487121Abstract: A system for locking and unlocking containers to transport modes and other containers comprises an actuating unit in an upper corner fitting of a container, a mechanical connecting device connected to the actuating unit, and guides to route the connecting device from the actuating unit to a rotatable locking leg housed in a lower corner fitting of the container. The twistlock of a lifting spreader engages the upper corner fitting of a container, urging the actuating unit. The connecting device is in turn urged, thereby causing the locking leg to rotate.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2014Date of Patent: November 8, 2016Assignee: Staffa IPI, LLCInventor: Peter J. Walker

Publication number: 20160101933Abstract: A system for locking and unlocking containers to transport modes and other containers comprises an actuating unit in an upper corner fitting of a container, a mechanical connecting means connected to the actuating unit, and guides to route the connecting means from the actuating unit to a rotatable locking leg housed in a lower corner fitting of the container. The twistlock of a lifting spreader engages the upper corner fitting of a container, urging the actuating unit. The connecting means is in turn urged, thereby causing the locking leg to rotate.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2014Publication date: April 14, 2016Inventor: Peter J. Walker

The twist lock of a lifting spreader engages the upper corner fitting of a container, urging the actuating unit. The connecting mechanism is in turn urged thereby causing the locking leg to rotate. The locking system, and apparatus to unlock a container twistlock, comprises in addition to an actuating unit, a locking mechanism in a lower corner fitting of the container, and a vertical coupler connecting the actuating unit with the locking mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2011Date of Patent: May 15, 2012Inventor: Peter J Walker

Publication number: 20110217139Abstract: A system for locking and unlocking containers to transport modes and other containers comprises an actuating unit in an upper corner fitting of a container, a mechanical connecting means connected to the actuating unit, and guides to route the connecting means from the actuating unit to a rotatable locking leg housed in a lower corner fitting of the container. The twist lock of a lifting spreader engages the upper corner fitting of a container, urging the actuating unit. The connecting means is in turn urged thereby causing the locking leg to rotate. The locking system, and apparatus to unlock a container twistlock, comprises in addition to an actuating unit, a locking mechanism in a lower corner fitting of the container, and a vertical coupler connecting the actuating unit with the locking mechanism. A torsional force applied to rotate the actuating unit is converted to a tension force by the actuating unit to move the vertical coupler, thus resulting in the rotating and unlocking of the locking mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2011Publication date: September 8, 2011Inventor: Peter J. Publication number: 20110155614Abstract: A universal container locking system for cargo containers. The system includes an actuating mechanism located in the top corner casting of the cargo container, and a locking mechanism located in the bottom corner fitting of the cargo container. The actuating mechanism is coupled to the locking mechanism such that rotation of a pick cone positioned in the top corner fitting from its initial insertion position to an orientation approximately 45° does not cause rotation of the locking cone extending from the bottom corner fitting while subsequent rotation of the pick cone from an orientation of approximately 45° to an orientation of approximately 90° causes the locking cone extending from the bottom corner fitting to rotate approximately 45° from the locked position to the unlocked positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2009Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: PECK & HALE, L.L.C.Inventors: John L. Szeglin, Peter J. Walker

Patent number: 5636584Abstract: A system for gathering cloth, intended for but not limited to sails. A web of vein lines (11) are connected a piece of flexible material in strategic positions depending on the size and cut of the cloth. These vein lines (11) are then lead through the belly button device (18) and joined to the stem line (12). The stem line can be lead to a position where a person will pull it in whenever they want the cloth to be gathered. To gather the cloth the person will pull on the stem line (12) which will pull the vein lines (11) through the belly button device (18) which in turn will pull the cloth connected to the ends of the vein lines (11) towards the belly button device (18). This collects the cloth into a smaller, central location and assists the individual in gathering the material.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1995Date of Patent: June 10, 1997Inventor: Peter J. Walker

Patent number: 4378639Abstract: A method and apparatus used in the uniform drying of a continuous web, such as a sheet of paper or paperboard. A newly formed web of paper of wet cellulosic fibers and the necessary additives is initially directed through a press section where excessive water is squeezed from the web to reduce its moisture content to about 50-80 percent, by weight, for subsequent passage through a dryer section wherein the moisture content is further reduced to anywhere between 3 and 15 percent, depending on the quality of the paper being processed. The moisture content profile of the nearly dry web of paper is constantly monitored adjacent the discharge end of the dryer section for dry streaks which occasionally occur in the web. Moisture is added accordingly to the web when the web is relatively wet and has a moisture content of at least 25 percent to eliminate further dry streaks and provides a paper product which has a uniform moisture content.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1981Date of Patent: April 5, 1983Assignee: Midland-Ross CorporationInventor: Peter J. Patent number: 4114528Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for controlling the caliper of a web, such as a continuous paper sheet issuing from a nip of a plural-roll device, such as a calender. One or more rolls of the device is subjected to a multiplicity of air jets issuing substantially at constant flow rates but at temperatures which may vary as desired from nozzles spaced lengthwise of the roll.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1976Date of Patent: September 19, 1978Assignee: Midland-Ross CorporationInventor: Peter J.
