Patent number: 7882990Abstract: An inverted aerosol dispensing device is disclosed having an undercap rotatably secured to the aerosol container with a bottom portion of the undercap supporting the aerosol container on a supporting surface to store the aerosol dispensing device in an inverted position. The undercap is rotatable into a first rotational position for enabling an actuator to discharge an aerosol product in a generally downwardly direction. The undercap is rotatable into a second rotational position for inhibiting the actuator from moving the valve stem.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2004Date of Patent: February 8, 2011Assignee: SeaquistPerfect Dispensing Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Publication number: 20110024449Abstract: A touchless dispenser is provided for a pressurized container including a valve member. The dispenser comprises a housing mountable to the container. An electrically controlled valve in the housing includes an inlet and an outlet. The inlet maintains the valve member in an open position incident to the housing being mounted on the container. A nozzle extends between the valve outlet and a discharge orifice. A sensor senses a user's hand proximate the discharge orifice. A control in the housing is operatively coupled to the sensor and the electrically controlled valve. The control controls operation of the electrically controlled valve to dispense a select dosage of product from the container responsive to the sensor sensing presence of a user's hand proximate the discharge orifice.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 31, 2009Publication date: February 3, 2011Inventors: Peter J. Walters, Craig A. Braun, Jörg Kohlne, Volker Umbeer

Publication number: 20110006083Abstract: A dispensing actuator for use on a container having pressurized contents is configured for convenient one-handed manipulation and use by consumers. The dispensing actuator includes a hingedly moveable flip-open lid, and a laterally moveable opening element, which can be manipulated so that the opening element cooperates with the lid to move the lid from a closed position to an opened position. The present dispensing actuator further includes an inner, downwardly deflectable actuating element, operatively connected with a dispensing valve of the associated container. Resilient, downward deflection of the actuating element, after opening of the dispensing actuator lid, permits the contents of the container to be conveniently dispensed. In one embodiment, the contents of the container are dispensed generally laterally of the dispensing actuator, while in alternate embodiments, the container's contents are dispensed generally upwardly, through the actuating element of the dispensing actuator.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2009Publication date: January 13, 2011Inventors: Peter J. Walters, Jason A. Ksiazk, Sean H. Cho, Gerald J. Marquardt, Jonathan D. Werner

Patent number: 7861894Abstract: A dispenser is provided for use with an associated container having pressurized contents. The dispenser includes a base configured for fitment on the associated container, and an actuator snap-fit to the base for limited, relative rotation with respect thereto. The base of the dispenser includes a nozzle joined in fluid communication with a valve stem of an associated dispensing valve fitted to the container, such that deflection of the nozzle permits dispensing of the pressurized contents of the container therethrough. The actuator cooperates with the nozzle of the base to permit selective movement of the nozzle for convenient dispensing of the container contents.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2007Date of Patent: January 4, 2011Assignee: Seaquistperfect Dispensing L.L.C.Inventors: Peter J. Walters, Jason A. Ksiazk

Publication number: 20080210710Abstract: An improved actuator is disclosed for actuating an aerosol valve for dispensing an aerosol product from an aerosol container. The improved actuator comprises a base for mounting to the aerosol container. A unitary actuator button supports a nozzle extending between the aerosol valve and a terminal orifice. The actuator button is rotatable about the base between a locked rotational position and an unlocked rotational position. The unitary actuator button is movable for pivoting the nozzle button to actuate the aerosol valve for dispensing aerosol product from the terminal orifice when the actuator button is in the unlocked rotational position. The unitary actuator button is inhibited from pivoting the nozzle button when the actuator button is rotated into the locked rotational position.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2007Publication date: September 4, 2008Applicant: Seaquist Perfect Dispensing Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Gerald J. Patent number: 7249692Abstract: A dispensing assembly is provided for a container of fluent material. A hand-operable dispenser cartridge is adapted to be mounted to the container. An actuator, which may include a nozzle or spout, is mounted on the cartridge. A locking sleeve is mounted around the cartridge and has an upper abutment edge and a recess. The locking sleeve can be rotated between a first rotated position preventing actuation of the dispensing assembly and a second rotated position permitting actuation of the dispensing assembly.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2005Date of Patent: July 31, 2007Assignee: SeaquistPerfect Dispensing Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Patent number: 7246722Abstract: A bottom dispensing aerosol device is disclosed comprising an aerosol container with an aerosol valve located at a bottom portion of the aerosol container. A coupling mounts an undercap to the aerosol container with a top portion of the undercap being adjacent to a bottom portion of the aerosol container. A bottom portion of the undercap supports the aerosol container on a supporting surface in an inverted position. An actuator is provided for opening the aerosol valve for discharging the aerosol product from the aerosol container when the bottom portion of the undercap is supporting the aerosol container in the inverted position on a supporting surface.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2005Date of Patent: July 24, 2007Assignee: Seaquist Perfect Dispensing ForeignInventors: Peter J. Patent number: 6974055Abstract: The invention relates to an adapter (2) for a manually operated dispensing device (120) for a fluid that is/can be pressurized in a container. The dispensing device includes a housing (148) having a passage channel (30). A tubular adapter housing (34) connects the uptake tube (32) and the channel (30) of the housing (148) of the dispensing device (120). The adapter housing (34) has a connecting sleeve (42) for connection to the connecting nipple of the housing (148) and an uptake tube sleeve (44) for connection to the uptake tube (32). There are several inlets (46) for the fluid in the upside down position of the dispensing device. The adapter housing (34) defines at least one section of the inlets. An inlet valve (48) is defined within the adapter housing (34) for releasing the inlets substantially simultaneously when a pressure acts on the fluid in the container in the substantially upside down position of the container.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2001Date of Patent: December 13, 2005Assignee: Seaquist Perfect Dispensing GmbHInventors: David Moore, Reinhard Neuhaus, Ralf Jordan, Detlef Schmitz, Bernhard Jasper, Peter J. Patent number: 6695171Abstract: A finger-operable pump cartridge is disposed within a closure for mounting the pump cartridge and closure to a container of fluent material. An actuator is mounted on the stem of the pump cartridge and has a skirt with a flange extending from, and continuously around, the skirt. A shroud is mounted around the closure and has a lip for engaging the actuator flange to inhibit removal of the actuator from the stem if the actuator is moved outwardly relative to the stem beyond a predetermined position. The actuator and closure may also include cooperating interengageable features accommodating rotation of the actuator relative to the closure between an actuatable position permitting reciprocation of the actuator and a releasably locked position preventing reciprocation of the actuator.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2002Date of Patent: February 24, 2004Assignee: Seaquistperfect Dispensing Foreign, Inc.Inventors: Peter J.
