  • Patent number: 9507769
Abstract: Computer-implemented methods can transform a corpus of meaningful text sequences into a generalized computer-usable repository of neurolinguistic information that can be applied by one or more computer systems. The computer system(s) can use the neurolinguistic information to neurolinguistically analyze meaningful text sequences to derive statistical information and identify dominant cognitive motivation orientations expressed in those text sequences. The identified dominant cognitive motivation orientations can be used to improve the efficacy of both human-generated and machine-generated communications. The computer system(s) thereby transform a meaningful text sequence into actionable information about the dominant cognitive motivation orientation(s) of the author of that text sequence within the context in which the text sequence was composed. Computer systems and computer-program products for implementing the methods are also described.

  • Patent number: 9413794
Abstract: Data associated with user identities within an electronic social networking platform is extracted from the electronic social networking platform. A request is received to filter the user identities based on a specified value for a characteristic. Based on data associated with the user identities that was extracted from the electronic social networking platform, a subset of the user identities is identified who have the specified value for the characteristic. An indication of content to be delivered to the identified subset of user identities is received. As a consequence, the content is delivered to at least some of the user identities within the identified subset of user identities.

  • Patent number: 9405804
Abstract: This specification describes technologies relating to identification of interests of a subgroup of a larger group of users. One aspect of the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods that include receiving data reflecting characteristics for users in a set of users of a social networking platform, wherein the data reflects endorsements of pages hosted on the social networking platform. A subset of the users within the set is identified by excluding users in the set with characteristics that do not match filter criteria. For each of some of the pages endorsed by members of the subset, a measure of the likelihood of a user in the subset endorsing the page relative to the likelihood of other users in the set endorsing the page is calculated. One or more content items are selected based on the measures and data specifying the selected content items is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 9361392
Abstract: In one implementation, data associated with user identities is extracted from an electronic social networking platform. Based on the extracted data, at least some of the user identities are classified as fitting one or more of multiple different profiles. A first subset of user identities classified as fitting a first profile is identified. A second subset of user identities classified as fitting a second profile is identified. In addition, values for a particular characteristic associated with user identities identified as belonging to the first subset are identified, and values for the particular characteristic associated with user identities identified as belonging to the second subset are identified. A display then is caused that reflects the identified values for the particular characteristic associated with user identities identified as belonging to the first subset and the identified values for the particular characteristic associated with user identities identified as belonging to the second subset.

  • Patent number: 9166229
Abstract: A process for the production of Li2MSiO4 where M is selected from the group Fe, Mn, Co, and Ni, is disclosed. The process uses an atmospheric-pressure solvothermal synthesis and a calcining step wherein the solvent is selected to be stable from decomposition over the solvothermal process conditions. The solvothermal solvent is recoverable and reusable. The process also relies on an excess of lithium in the starting materials mix to promote phase-purity of the Li2MSiO4 crystalline phase. The Li2MSiO4 material is used as a cathode material in a lithium ion battery cell.

  • Patent number: 8980202
Abstract: A method of making cerium-containing metal oxide nanoparticles in non-polar solvent eliminates the need for solvent shifting steps. The direct synthesis method involves: (a) forming a reaction mixture of a source of cerous ion and a carboxylic acid, and optionally, a hydrocarbon solvent; and optionally further comprises a non-cerous metal ion; (b) heating the reaction mixture to oxidize cerous ion to ceric ion; and (c) recovering a nanoparticle of either cerium oxide or a mixed metal oxide comprising cerium. The cerium-containing oxide nanoparticles thus obtained have cubic fluorite crystal structure and a geometric diameter in the range of about 1 nanometer to about 20 nanometers. Dispersions of cerium-containing oxide nanoparticles prepared by this method can be used as a component of a fuel or lubricant additive.
