Publication number: 20050145058Abstract: The invention relates to a power control device for drive motors in motor vehicles, in particular an accelerator pedal, with an operating lever which may be operated by an operating force against a return force from a rest position on pivoting about a pivot axis. A damping device for damping the pivot motion of the operating lever is also provided. The damping device is a friction device which comprises a friction element, by means of which a component of the operating lever is acted upon such that in addition to the return force a friction force is also overcome during a pivot movement of the operating lever in a direction away from the rest position.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2004Publication date: July 7, 2005Inventors: Peter Kohlen, Christian Reimann, Joachim von Willich

Publication number: 20050129550Abstract: The invention relates to a valve comprised of a housing with a valve seat for a flap that is rotatably mounted on a drive shaft. The exterior of the flap is provided with a first piston sealing ring and a second piston sealing ring that are placed inside an encircling groove of the flap. Each sealing ring is provided in the form of a metal ring. The first ring has a first gap and the second ring has a second gap that are not aligned with one another. The invention also relates to the use of said valve.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2004Publication date: June 16, 2005Applicant: SIEMENS AKTIENGESELLSCHAFTInventors: Peter Kohlen, Michael Rennen

Publication number: 20040159815Abstract: The present invention relates to a throttle valve connection piece for an internal combustion engine. The piece includes a housing and a throughflow opening in which the valve is pivotably mounted around a pivot axis. The pivot axis extends in a perpendicular manner with respect to a longitudinal axis of the opening. The valve is used to close the throughflow opening. When in a closed position, the valve is inclined at a defined setting angle in relation to the longitudinal axis. The radial peripheral edge of the valve rests against the inner wall of the throughflow opening and the throughflow opening has a cylindrical shape at least in the region where the valve comes to rest. The cylindrical region of rest in relation to the longitudinal axis of the throughflow opening forms a circular cylinder which is cut on both sides at a certain angle, the levels of the cut are inclined at a similar angle in relation to the longitudinal axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2004Publication date: August 19, 2004Inventors: Peter Kohlen, Rolf Oppermann

Patent number: 6453768Abstract: A pedal (2), in particular for a motor vehicle, has a pedal arm (6) which can be deflected at its first end region (8) by a force (4), in particular a foot force, is mounted at its second end region (10) in a manner such that it can pivot about a pivot spindle (18) mounted in a housing (16), and is acted upon in a manner such that it can be pivoted back into an initial position by a restoring spring element (20) which surrounds the pivot spindle (18). In this arrangement, the restoring spring element (20) is supported on a first lever arm (36) of a pivotably mounted lever (38). The second lever arm (44) of the lever (38) bears via a friction body (50) against a friction surface (56). The friction surface (56) in turn can be pivoted about the pivot spindle (18) of the pedal arm (6) and is arranged on the second end region (10) of the pedal arm (6).Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2001Date of Patent: September 24, 2002Assignee: Mannesmann VDO AGInventors: Andreas Wehner, Christian Weis, Peter Kohlen

Patent number: 6446526Abstract: A pedal having a pivotably mounted pedal arm, which is prestressed into an initial position by means of a restoring-spring element designed as a leg spring, has a friction body which is prestressed against a friction surface by the restoring-spring element. The friction body is designed as an eccentric cam plate and thus, in addition to a hysteresis, also permits a non-linear profile of the pedal-actuating force.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2001Date of Patent: September 10, 2002Assignee: Mannesmann VDO AGInventors: Christian Reimann, Peter Kohlen

Publication number: 20020005080Abstract: A pedal (14) having a pivotably mounted pedal arm (3), which is prestressed into an initial position by means of a restoring-spring element (12) designed as a leg spring (11), has a friction body (15) which is prestressed against a friction surface (18, 19) by means of the restoring-spring element (12). According to the invention, the friction body (15) is designed as an eccentric cam plate and thus, in addition to a hysteresis, also permits a non-linear profile of the pedal-actuating force (Fp).Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2001Publication date: January 17, 2002Applicant: Mannesman VDO AGInventors: Christian Reimann, Peter Kohlen

Patent number: 6311578Abstract: A pedal having a pedal arm (3) which is mounted pivotably and is prestressed into an initial position by a restoring spring (5), which is designed as a leg spring, has a frictional damper (7) having a slotted sleeve (8) whose end regions overlap and are prestressed against each other. As the pedal arm is being pressed down, the diameter of the sleeve (8) is reduced by the restoring spring (5), so that the end regions slide over each other and damp the movement of the pedal arm (3).Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2000Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: Mannesmann VDO AGInventor: Peter Kohlen
