  • Patent number: 7695546
Abstract: An adsorbent for organic compounds consisting of filler granules, which contain 20 to 99.9 wt. % of fillers and a binder. The adsorbent is produced by mixing at least one binder with at least one filler and performing granulation in a mixing or granulation apparatus. The adsorbent may be used for adsorbing and/or absorbing organic and/or inorganic substances from a liquid or gaseous phase.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 15, 2009
Date of Patent: April 13, 2010
    Assignee: Evonik Degussa GmbH
Inventors: Matthias Schmitt, Martin Kuge, Reinhard Stober, Udo Görl, Jürgen Leimann, Susanne Esser, Peter Kopietz, Silke Teike

  • Patent number: 7514062
Abstract: Process for the production of furnace black by producing a stream of hot combustion gases in a combustion chamber, feeding the hot combustion gases along a flow axis from the combustion chamber through a reactor narrow point into a reaction zone, mixing carbon black raw material into the flow of the combustion gases in front of, inside or behind the reactor narrow point and stopping carbon black formation downstream in the reaction zone by spraying in water, steam being jetted in axially through the gas burner and optionally at the radial oil nozzles and beaded carbon black being introduced before and/or after the reactor narrow point.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 23, 2004
Date of Patent: April 7, 2009

  • Patent number: 4970059
Abstract: A tubular furnace as a reactor for producing carbon black is disclosed having a constriction in at least the area of the spray device for the carbon black starting material which is oriented along the reactor axis. A combination chamber for generating the gaseous pyrolysis medium for the carbon black raw material is laterally located in front of the constriction. The central axes of the reactor tube and the combustion chamber are in the same plane and are essentially at right angles to one another. In addition, a method for producing furnace carbon blacks is disclosed in which the described reactor can be used for forming a highly turbulent, yet essentially non-swirling flow of combustion gases into which the carbon black starting material is injected.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 7, 1989
Date of Patent: November 13, 1990
Assignees: KG Deutsche Gasrusswerke GmbH & Co., Degussa Aktiengesellschaft
