  • Publication number: 20150298289
Abstract: A rotor assembly is provided for blast processing. The rotor assembly includes multiple lofting elements to create a vortex to loft particulate material to be used to process a target, and multiple impelling elements to project the particulate material toward the target. The rotor assembly is enclosed within an operating chamber that has a target area into which the particulate material is projected to strike the target. There may further be angled deflectors at the opening to direct particulate material back toward the rotor assembly to use the material for further processing. Certain components are easily adjustable for different sizes and shapes of target. The action of the rotor assembly enables the use of up to 100% pure grit for entire cleaning processes, and provides single pass hook profile on any common material surface.

  • Patent number: 6283833
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a high-velocity particle stream at low cost through multi-staged acceleration using different media in each stage, the particles are accelerated to a subsonic velocity (with respect to the velocity of sound in air) using one or more jets of gas at low cost, then further accelerated to a higher velocity using jets of water. Additionally, to enhance particle acceleration, a vortex motion is created, and the particles introduced into the fluid having vortex motion, thereby enhancing the delivery of particles to the target.

  • Patent number: 4665944
Abstract: This invention relates to a high pressure valve of the dump type. The valve body contains a slideable, hollow spool with ports connecting its interior and exterior. When the valve is in the on position, all ports are located in the pressurized portion of the valve body, and fluid flows to an outlet connected to the hollow spool. In the off position, at least one port is outside the pressurized area of the valve body, thereby relieving fluid pressure. The ports slide through a seal of self-pressurizing construction. The valve may also be used as a high pressure swivel, or combination valve swivel, by rotating the spool, if the spool is supported by bearings.

  • Patent number: 4437525
Abstract: A hand held fluid jet drilling apparatus is described. The drill includes an elongated drill stem with a fluid jet nozzle on one end and a motor on the other end. High pressure fluid is supplied to the drill from an external power pack which also produces compressed air. The drill includes a high pressure swivel which allows the motor to rotate the nozzle while a continuous supply of fluid is present. The drill stem is spring mounted to provide protection to the operator. The swivel may also operate as an on-off valve which supplies flushing fluid while the drill is off. The drill is operable as a drill, reamer or slotting tool by suitable arrangement of controls. A second embodiment is illustrated which provides for continuous flushing with low pressure fluid during operation. The drill is also attachable to mechanical feed systems to extend face coverage.

  • Patent number: 4275793
Abstract: A rock drill feed system moves a drill toward and away from a wall with a reciprocating hydraulic motor powered by pressurized fluid. The pressurized fluid is controlled by a movable control valve that has a first position obtained manually to move the drill inwardly to drill, a second position obtained automatically when the drill has completed drilling, and a third position obtained automatically when the drill has been completely withdrawn. The sensing of the location of the drill to position the control valve is accomplished by measuring the pressure and flow rate of the hydraulic fluid delivered to the motor with pressure responsive switches. When the pressure exceeds a preselected level and the flow rate drops below a preselected level, the two pressure switches close to produce a signal that moves the valve to another position.
