  • Patent number: 10656096
Abstract: A camera assembly arranged on an unmanned and autonomously navigating aerial vehicle is employed to inspect a surface area of for material defects. The vehicle is automatically flown to the surface area from a launch site, wherein it can fly around obstacles using automatic obstacle detection and avoidance methods. A relative position of the aerial vehicle with respect to the surface area with the aid of a position sensor is continuously measured and a sequence of images of the surface area is recorded. Between the individual images, the aerial vehicle is moved along a flight path overlapping image details of the surface area. The images of the sequence are composed into an overall image of the surface area to allow for the surface area to be inspected for defects and the location of defects to be ascertained on the basis of the overall image.

  • Patent number: 8165827
Abstract: A method of calculating forces acting on the footprint area of a tire, the tire being mounted on a wheel in turn mounted on a hub for engagement with a vehicle, the tire being moved along a longitudinal direction substantially parallel to the ground, includes the following steps: detecting a first angular position of the footprint area; detecting a second angular position of a reference point substantially integral with the hub; comparing the first and second angular positions with each other to determine a phase displacement between the reference point and footprint area; determining a parameter representing an angular velocity of the wheel; calculating at least one longitudinal force in the footprint function of at least the phase displacement and the parameter. Also described is an apparatus for calculating the forces.

  • Patent number: 7770440
Abstract: The course of torque transmitted though a driving shaft (3) between torque generating device (1) to be tested and a driving or loading mechanism (2) is determined during an identification phase in the completely constructed test bench with the use of a rotating driving or loading mechanism (2) at pseudo-stochastic rotational speeds. Determined are thereby parameters describing in a real and current manner the dynamic behavior of the driving shaft (3) whereby the parameters are used as an influence in further testing.

  • Patent number: 7039541
Abstract: In a test bench design consisting at least of an internal combustion engine (1) having its own sensor technology, actuator technology and control devices, a dynamometric brake (2), and a test bench computer (5) controlling the internal combustion engine (1) and the dynamometric brake (2), whereby the computer (5) calculates the control variables for the internal combustion engine (1) and the dynamometric brake (2) based on set point defaults, the object to operate the internal combustion engine (1) with the assistance of the dynamometric brake (2) in the same way as the engine would be operated by the user in a selected vehicle and with the driving profile to be set by the user is achieved by conducting a predefined measurement prior to the actual measurement, which cannot be performed precisely by the user himself, and based on the measurement, parameters of a calculation specification (9) of set point defaults of the control variables are to be determined under consideration of the characteristics of the te
