  • Patent number: 7940874
Abstract: Receiver for receiving a data stream via a data bus, which receiver samples the bits of the data stream in an over-sampling process, in which n bit strobe offsets are used and n data sets with i bits are sampled,—applies a decision criterion for identifying those data sets with correct bit values. This decision uses checksum CRC,—selects one of the identified data sets with correct bit values and—uses the bit strobe offset, which was used for receiving the selected data streams, for receiving the data stream. In this way the multiphase clock with optimal phase shifts is selected.

  • Publication number: 20080273606
Abstract: A fast method for allocating those channels or subcarriers of a multicarrier network to an ahead lying transmission is to let a transmitting terminal and a receiving terminal which intend to access the medium determine the status of the channels or subcarriers that are within their reception range and send a signal indicating the determined status to the corresponding terminal which will select those channels or subcarriers for the eventual transmission which fit best. Other terminals within the transmission range of the transmitting or the receiving terminal respect the reservation and wait for the current transmission to find out which channels or subcarriers are actually used.

  • Patent number: 7316371
Abstract: To control and particularly steepen the landing glide path of an aircraft, a respective aerodynamic component mounted on each wingtip includes a fixed plane member and a pivotable control element pivotally connected to the fixed plane member. The pivot axis is perpendicular to the major plane of the wing. The pivotable control element can be selectively pivotally deflected about the pivot axis relative to the fixed plane member, so as to thereby increase the overall drag without influencing the overall lift of the aircraft. This achieves a fine adjustment that is superimposed on the basic landing configuration established by the setting of the flaps, spoilers, engine thrust, etc. By increasing the drag without influencing the lift, this steepens the landing glide path slope.

  • Patent number: 7310998
Abstract: A method for improving the precision of wind tunnel measurements provides a correction to reduce the influence of a suspension device. A model, such as an aircraft model, is held by the suspension device in a wind tunnel and has multiple suspension wires. By attaching one or more sleeves to each suspension wire, a plurality of measurements with identical model configuration are capable of providing data for extrapolating corrected measurement values for a plurality of aerodynamic characteristic variables measurable in a wind tunnel. Examples of sleeves include a slit along the sleeve length and an inner diameter of the sleeves selected such that the sleeve is capable of being pressed onto and removed from a suspension wire or a sleeve of lesser outer diameter.

  • Publication number: 20070006645
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for improving the precision of wind tunnel measurements, particularly to correct the influence of a suspension device, wherein a model, particularly an aircraft model, being introduced into a wind tunnel on the suspension device, which has multiple suspension wires, and at least one sleeve being attached to each suspension wire, having the following steps: performing at least two measurements with identical model configuration with at least one effective diameter and/or with the suspension wire diameter in each case to ascertain at least two raw measured values and ascertaining a corrected final measured value for the model from at least two measured values.

  • Publication number: 20070002763
Abstract: Centrally controlled wireless networks require reliable communications between the central controller and each of the stations within the wireless networks. The structure of a wireless network is often dynamic, or ad-hoc, as stations enter and exit the network, or are physically relocated. The selection of the central controller for the network may also be dynamic, either because the current central controller desires to exit the network, or because the communication between the current central controller and one or more of the stations is poor. This invention discloses a method and apparatus for assessing the quality of the communication paths among all stations in the network. This assessment is useful as a continual monitor of the quality of the network, and can be utilized to select an alternative central control station based upon the quality of communication paths to and from this station. Additionally, the quality assessment can be utilized to establish relay communication paths, as required.

  • Patent number: 7136371
Abstract: The invention relates to a wireless network defined as a group of wireless terminals and an assigned central station. After receiving requests for the wireless transmission of packets between a transmitting and a receiving terminal during a time multiplex frame, the central station assigns time slots within a following time multiplex frame for the transmission of packets from transmitting to receiving terminals. After reception of all the transmission requests, the central station determines a first subset of the group that intend to transmit to receiving terminals, and a second subset containing all transmitting terminals (of the group) that are not contained in the first subset. An order in which the transmitting terminals of the first subset will transmit is determined in accordance with the decreasing number of receiving terminals assigned to each transmitting terminal.

  • Patent number: 6641089
Abstract: An auxiliary flap is movably arranged on a planar trailing edge of an aerodynamic element such as a wing, rudder, stabilizer, or flap. The auxiliary flap is rotatable and/or slidable relative to the aerodynamic element, to move selectively into three positions. In a first position, a free edge of the auxiliary flap protrudes into an airflow boundary layer on one side of the aerodynamic element, to decrease lift. In a second position, a free edge of the aerodynamic element protrudes into an airflow boundary layer on the other side of the aerodynamic element, to increase lift. In a third neutral position, the auxiliary element does not protrude into either boundary layer, so as not to influence lift. The auxiliary flap is simple and rapidly acting. The flap protrudes substantially perpendicularly into the boundary layer flow. The auxiliary flap has a planar plate shape.
