  • Publication number: 20240134921
Abstract: A user of a network-based system may correspond to a user profile that describes the user. The user profile may describe the user using one or more descriptors of items that correspond to the user (e.g., items owned by the user, items liked by the user, or items rated by the user). In some situations, such a user profile may be characterized as a “taste profile” that describes an array or distribution of one or more tastes, preferences, or habits of the user. Accordingly, the user profile machine within the network-based system may generate the user profile by accessing descriptors of items that correspond to the user, clustering one or more of the descriptors, and generating the user profile based on one or more clusters of the descriptors.

  • Patent number: 9321104
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (10) and a method for sintering sinter products, such as oxidation-prone materials, in particular metallic sintered goods (46), in particular a dental framework, comprising a tray (18), which accommodates the sinter product and is arranged on a base plate (14), a pot-shaped cover (16), which surrounds the tray, with a rim (36) that is sealed towards the base plate, as well as supply and discharge openings (38) for protective gas connected to the interior chamber (30) that is surrounded by the pot-shaped cover. In order to facilitate sintering even at temperatures above 1200° C. without any problems, it is suggested that the tray (18) be covered by a capping element (20), whereby when the tray is covered by the capping element, the interior chamber (34) of the tray is connected in a gas-flow-allowing manner to the interior chamber of the cover.

  • Patent number: 9011560
Abstract: Various processes and apparatus are discussed for an ultra-high heat flux chemical reactor. A thermal receiver and the reactor tubes are aligned to 1) absorb and re-emit radiant energy, 2) highly reflect radiant energy, and 3) any combination of these, to maintain an operational temperature of the enclosed ultra-high heat flux chemical reactor. Particles of biomass are gasified in the presence of a steam carrier gas and methane in a simultaneous steam reformation and steam biomass gasification reaction to produce reaction products that include hydrogen and carbon monoxide gas using the ultra-high heat flux thermal energy radiated from the inner wall and then into the multiple reactor tubes. The multiple reactor tubes and cavity walls of the receiver transfer energy primarily by radiation absorption and re-radiation, rather than by convection or conduction, to the reactants in the chemical reaction to drive the endothermic chemical reaction flowing in the reactor tubes.

  • Patent number: 8074954
Abstract: A rail for fastening installations in an aircraft, the rail including a rail base section, a running-surface section that extends in a longitudinal direction with a running surface, and a connection section that connects the running-surface section to the rail base section at the face pointing away from the running surface. The running-surface section laterally on both sides, in each case spaced apart at a predetermined pitch, includes a multitude of projections projecting away from the connection section, each with a top that has substantially the same alignment as the running surface and a bottom that has an alignment that substantially is opposed to the alignment of the running surface. The bottom of the projections forms holding surfaces for holding a fitting. The rail is attached to a floor of the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 5426054
Abstract: A determination of optimal energy insertion, or input, results from a measurement of opacity at various heights in a fluid coagulating system and at the same time from measuring a deviation width of the opacity at a lower measuring point. Simultaneously, a continuous comparison takes place of the opacity measured at the various measuring points, which changes with time, and a comparison of the deviation width of opacity. The optimal energy insertion in the fluid coagulating system is achieved if, at each point in time, the opacity at all measuring points is maintained approximately the same and the deviation width of the opacity is maintained at or near a maximum.

  • Patent number: 4425651
Abstract: An ion laser with a gas discharge vessel, for example a helium-selenium ion laser, utilizing cataphoretic vapor transport provides monochromatic exit radiation in a parallel beam of high intensity. The discharge takes place in a tube of high silica glass surrounded at some spacing by an envelope tube that is subject to cooling and is therefore gas-tight for helium. The envelope tube has a configuration or partial partition that provides condensation chambers for the vapor. Advantages are increased power especially for compact and short configurations, with high reliability, safety, and service life.
