  • Patent number: 11010479
Abstract: A system includes a memory system and a processing system operably coupled to the memory system. The memory system includes a plurality of address spaces. The processing system is configured to perform operations including creating a data space from within a primary address space and a primary address space number access list entry referencing the data space. An unauthorized caller routine in a home address space configured to issue a service request including an address space-switching program call from the home address space to a program call target routine in the primary address space. The address space-switching program call references the primary address space number access list entry in the primary address space. A vulnerability identifier associated with the program call target routine is created and logged based on one or more conditions indicative of a cross-memory integrity violation detected responsive to the service request.

  • Publication number: 20070038572
Abstract: A method and system for metering usage of software products on a data processing system. Requests to load an executable module are monitored and, if it is determined that a request was received to load an executable module, a metering flag is checked for the executable module that is indicative of whether the executable module is an executable module that is to be metered. If the metering flag indicates that the executable module is to be metered, a software product associated with the executable module is identified.

  • Publication number: 20050240925
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments include a method, system, and storage medium for managing computer processing functions in a multi-processor computer environment that includes a standard logical processor and an assist logical processor, each of which share the same operating system instance within a logical partition. The method includes invoking a switch-to service by standard code. The standard code is running on a standard logical processor and is executing a task. The switch-to service checks to see if an assist logical processor is online, and it if finds one, the switch-to service updates an integrated assist field of a work element block associated with the task and assigns a queue to the work element block. The task is dispatched, in accordance with business rules identified in a system control block, on either of said assist logical processor or said standard logical processor.
