Peter Ribnitz has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 5234156
Abstract: A process and an apparatus serve for the continuous coating of workpieces, with a coating medium being applied to a zone to be coated on the workpiece that is passing the zone, and with heat being applied in this coating procedure, to produce a film from the coating medium at the zone. To reduce the size of the installation, a synthetic resin is sprayed toward the zone that is passing through, and heat is applied, at least predominantly, before the sprayed synthetic resin impinges on the zone, in order to reduce the size of the route up to where the film is formed.

  • Patent number: 4883506
Abstract: An electrostatic powder coating installation which includes a cabinet for accommodating a device for producing electrostatically charged powder, with a filter strip being disposed in the cabinet at a bottom end thereof. A suction system is provided which includes at least one movable suction nozzle and one suction air duct functionally connected with the suction nozzle with a suction blower. The suction nozzle is functionally connected with a drive belt, with the belt moving the nozzle transversely to the suction air duct. The suction nozzle is reciprocated by at least one motor driven belt, with the belt simultaneously serving as a sealing element for a slot provided along a length of the suction air duct.

  • Patent number: 4816285
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring a quantity of particles deposited on a metal body to be coated with powder or the quantity of powder deposited per unit of time, especially on a moving body. The body is located in a space subjected to an electrostatic field and a quantity of powder deposited, possibly per unit of time, is measured by measuring a charge or current in a circuit connecting the field electrodes. An actual value deposited, indicated by a measurement, is used as a control parameter in a control circuit for adjusting an actual amount deposited to a set deposition amount which is adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4759946
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for interior coating of hollow bodies comprising a mandrel introducible into at least one tubular body, a coating arrangement on the mandrel for applying a coating medium to an interior of the tubular body and a heating mechanism on the mandrel and arranged so as to predominantly deliver heat directly from the mandrel into a surrounding area toward the tublular body. The heat-applying efficiency of burning in a coating medium can be improved by applying the heat from the interior at least predominantly directly to one of an interior area of the tubular body just before being coated and an interior area of the body already coated to burn in the coating according to the disclosed method.

  • Patent number: 4647298
Abstract: An electrostatic powder coating installation which includes a cabinet accommodating a device for producing electrostatically charged powder, with a filter strip being disposed in the cabinet at a bottom end thereof. A first suction fan, covering a large portion of the bottom area of the cabinet is provided for producing a suction field in the cabinet with an underpressure by virtue of the provision of the filter strip. A cleaning apparatus or nozzle, associated with the filter strip, removes surplus powder lying on the filter strip. A device is provided for drawing the filter strip along at least one length of the cabinet when pigments in the powder change thereby assigning a specific zone of the filter strip to each pigment. A powder recovery installation includes a basic frame or housing which accommodates a powder container, a filter, a sifting machine, and a basket for the sifting material. The basket for the sifting material is adapted to be easily replaceable.

  • Patent number: 4302481
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for spray coating one or a series of objects with at least two powder coating materials in succession or alternately. When a change of the material being sprayed is to be effected, the flow of the first material is terminated, preferably by means of a squeeze valve, the flow path of the first material is flushed with a fluid, preferably air, and the second spray material is sprayed. The relative positions of the apparatus forming the respective flow paths of the two spray materials are not changed during this process. In one preferred embodiment, feed conduits corresponding to respective spray materials converge into a single delivery conduit. Each feed conduit includes means for closing and opening it. Means are provided for flushing at least part of a given feed conduit, or the delivery conduit, or both, with a fluid. The flushing can preferably be done pulsatingly.

  • Patent number: 4066041
Abstract: An apparatus for the electrostatic application of a coating material in the form of a liquid to articles or the like comprising a nozzle at the region of which there are provided at least two electrodes at which there is applied high-voltage of the same polarity but of different magnitude. The electrical field between the electrodes covers the nozzle opening in the form of a transverse field.
