Patent number: 11991296Abstract: A method may include receiving a check-in request at a server of a consent management platform from a content-presentation device. The request may by or include an authentication certificate for establishing a secure communicative connection. A device token cryptographically-signed by the server, a global identifier (GID) unique to the content-presentation device, and a device-based device record may be received over the secure communicative connection. The server may retrieve a server-based device record for the device from a flat database using the GID as an index key, and then compare a device-based sequence number in the device-based device record with a server-based sequence number in the server-based device record. If the sequence numbers match, the server may send a check-in complete message to the content-presentation. If the sequence numbers do not match, the server may initiate a synchronization procedure with the content-presentation device.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2020Date of Patent: May 21, 2024Assignee: Universal Electronics Inc.Inventors: Brian Paul Johnson, Peter William Ellison, Matthew Jorgensen, George Earl Harvey, Kurt Roman Thielen

Patent number: 11922431Abstract: In one aspect, a method carried out by a content-presentation device may include transmitting a consent-processing request, including an identifier string unique to the device, to a consent management platform disposed in a computing cloud. The string may be used to establish an interactive session for user selection of consent options associated with a consent package having consent features of a media distribution system that require user consent for activation on the device. The consent package may be one of multiple consent packages targeted for the device by the consent management platform. The interactive session may prompt for consent choices of consent options, each choice being acceptance or rejection of consent to activating features of the consent package. The consent choices may be provided to the consent management platform via the interactive session, and corresponding information may be stored in a device-based activation whitelist for each consent-to feature.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2020Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Universal Electronics Inc.Inventors: Brian Paul Johnson, Peter William Ellison, Matthew Jorgensen, George Earl Harvey, Kurt Roman Thielen

Patent number: 10037217Abstract: A multifunction device generates a display of a first view of an application-centric library associated with an application. The application-centric library has content rules that limit files to those that include content compatible with the application. The first view includes a representation of a first file compatible with the application and added to the application-centric library. The instructions also include: while displaying the first view, detecting first inputs; in response to detecting the first inputs, generating a display of a second view comprising a representation of a second file not added to the application-centric library; while displaying the second view, detecting second inputs interpreted as a selection of the representation of the second file; and in response to detecting the second inputs, in accordance with a determination that the second file is compatible with the application, adding the second file to the application-centric library.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2014Date of Patent: July 31, 2018Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Peter Roman, Richard R. Dellinger, Megan M. Frost, Joshua B. Dickens, Mischa McLachlan, Patrick L. Coffman

Publication number: 20100118048Abstract: A system and method for providing nested controls for manipulating a digital image. A system may typically include a client computer having a web browser application executing thereon and having an in-browser image manipulation application executing within the context of the web browser application. Such an in-browser image manipulation application may be operated by a user to display a digital image to be manipulated. A user may select an editable feature, such as color scheme or brightness, of the digital image. In response to selecting the editable feature, the application may display the control feature adjacent to the digital image such that a user may manipulate the control feature in real-time. In response to manipulating the control feature, changes to the digital image are displayed in real-time.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 10, 2008Publication date: May 13, 2010Applicant: BITNIK, INC.Inventors: Brian Terry, Peter Roman
