  • Publication number: 20050235990
Abstract: An underwater exhaust system includes an exhaust valve with a valve cover operatively coupled thereto. The valve cover is adapted to create an exhaled air pocket on the water interface side of the valve. The exhaled air pocket allows the valve to operate under reduced water resistance. The valve cover includes at least one water inlet passage and at least one exhaust gas opening.

  • Publication number: 20050188549
Abstract: For use as a law enforcement weapon, a saber is provided having an elongated blade and a hilt affixed to one end thereof The blade has a triangular cross section including a pair of concave sides converging to a sharp common edge. The third side in opposed relation to the sharp edge is convex The blade is tapered along its length from the hilt end to a point. The handle is oval-shaped, conducive to orientation using the convex side of the blade in a battering mode or the sharp edge in a slashing mode.

  • Publication number: 20040241333
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions, process incorporating the compositions and articles such as substrates, catamenials, diapers, pantiliners, paper towels, tissues, underarm shields, etc., made by the process, which release perfume and subsequently are able to minimize odor caused from body fluids through the incorporation of a starch encapsulated accord (SEA) and a carrier.

  • Patent number: 6693265
Abstract: A degradation device for degrading tires includes an enclosed chamber (3) providing an annular housing space for a tire (1) to be treated. A microwave generator is connected to a wave guide (18) for splitting the generated microwave energy into arms (20 and 19) which are provided with outlets which will direct the energy both externally and internally of the annulus of the housing space. The microwave energy will cause the tire to break down into constituent parts. The chamber (3) is reciprocated and rotated with respect to the tire so that the microwaves will be projected relatively evenly through the tire. An inert gas is introduced into the chamber at (29), to limit the possibility of combustion or oxidation of degradation products created by the process. Volatile gaseous products of the process are drawn off through the exhaust pipe (26). Solid degradation products are created and are removed at the end of the process.

  • Patent number: 6554781
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring posture deficiencies in the spine and including a flexible body (30) encapsulating a flexible operating arm (31) cantilevered from a base moulding (34). The operating arm (31) is provided with upper (37) and lower (40) strain gauges bonded to the upper and lower faces respectively of the operating arm (31) at the point beyond the stiffening base moulding (34) to ensure that differential strain is experienced on deflection of the operating arm (31). Wire tails (41) are terminated as a PCB assembly (45) mounted to the printed circuit support (35), which assembly comprises a PC board bearing an LSI processor (46), rechargeable battery (47), vibrating motor (50) and inductive coil (51) selected to fulfil the functions of transmitting and receiving element, and inductive power supply for charging the battery (47), under the control of processor (46).

  • Patent number: 5722929
Abstract: An agglomeration process for metallurgical by-products and waste products is described, utilizing the sulphate material present in the metallurgical waste and by-products, which involves reacting the sulphate with water and optionally with an added alkaline earth metal compound. Sulphuric acid may also be added to the particles to be agglomerated. The obtained mixture is extruded or cast, and allowed to harden before being used in recycling to an extractive process. The agglomeration mechanism involves one or more of, hydration of a water soluble sulphate, precipitation of a water insoluble alkaline earth metal sulphate and hydration of a water insoluble sulphate.

  • Patent number: 4100817
Abstract: An automatic indexing mechanism for stepping one or more thermocouples through selected positions in a gas turbine engine comprises a quadrant plate having an arcuate row of apertures therein. A first arm is pivotally mounted on the plate and carries the one or more thermocouples. A further arm is pivoted mounted on the plate and also with respect to the first arm and has attached thereto a piston rod of a pneumatic piston and cylinder device whose body is fixed to the first arm. Stops actuated by piston and cylinder devices are mounted on the arms and are arranged to be engaged in the arcuate row of apertures in the plate. A pneumatic circuit and an electrical logic circuit control operation of the piston and cylinder devices to effect stepwise movement of the first arm relative to the quadrant plate.
