  • Patent number: 11969246
Abstract: A sensor implanted in tissues and including a sensing layer is fabricated by mixing the signal transduction enzyme with non-reactive components including buffer salts and fillers, and spin coating the enzyme onto a substrate. The signal transduction enzyme is crosslinked by introducing the coated substrate in a vacuum chamber. In the chamber, a crosslinker evaporates and is deposited onto the enzyme, therefore crosslinking the enzyme.

  • Patent number: 7093431
Abstract: The present invention relates to an exhaust gas treatment device (1), in particular for an internal combustion engine, preferably in a motor vehicle, comprising a housing (2) as well as a substrate body (3) which is situated therein and through which exhaust gases can flow in an axial direction (5). The substrate body (3) is supported axially on the housing (2) via an axial bearing (8) on at least one axial end face (11). To improve the axial support of the substrate body (3), the axial bearing (8) has a supporting ring (10) mounted on the housing and having a U-shaped profile (12), which is open axially toward the end face (11). A bearing ring (17) made of bearing material engages into the U-shaped profile (12) of the supporting ring (10) on its axial end, which faces away from the substrate body (3) and is supported thereon axially. With its axial end facing the substrate body (3), the bearing ring (17) is supported on the end face (11).

  • Patent number: 6019440
Abstract: A device and method of adjusting a variable boosting factor of a brake power booster is provided. A variable boosting factor is achieved by constructively defining a basic boosting factor of a brake power booster that may be overridden by electronic independent activation. In a preferred embodiment, the driver's pedal force is measured either directly at the brake pedal, or after the pedal force is boosted by the brake pedal on the piston rod of the brake power booster by means of a force. A nominal pressure specification is generated from this quantity by way of a variable amplifier and an electrical signal-adapting unit. The braking pressure which is produced from the driver's pedal force and the basic boosting factor of the brake power booster can be overridden by this independent activation.

  • Patent number: 5040498
Abstract: In known valve arrangements with flat slide valves the inlet valve and outlet valve of a cylinder are formed by a single flat slide which includes two small, sickle-shaped slots which are alternately brought to coincidence with the inlet port and the outlet port of the cylinder. The small, sickle-shaped slots make it more difficult to fill in the fuel mixture and to exhaust the combustion gases. According to the invention, a separate flat slide is respectively arranged as an inlet valve and an outlet valve of a cylinder, the slide having a closed flat slide surface and being movable between a retracted opening position and an extended closing position. The total surface of the inlet port and the outlet port can thereby be increased to 60 to 90% of the inner cross-sectional area of the cylinder, whereby an optimum cylinder filling and removal of the combustion gases are made possible. The opening lift of the flat slide valve of the inlet port is variable.

  • Patent number: 5003936
Abstract: Conventional cylinders of internal combustion engines comprise a cylinder chamber of constant size so that there is an unchangeable compression chamber between the top dead center position of the piston and the cylinder head. To be able to vary the size of the cylinder chamber and thus the volume of the compression chamber and to thereby adjust a respectively optimum compression, the cylinder head of the cylinder of the invention has arranged therein an insert whose position is hydraulically adjustable, the compression chamber being enlarged by lifting the insert, while it is reduced by lowering the insert. The position of the insert is controlled through a microprocessor in conjunction with a lambda probe.

  • Patent number: 4006925
Abstract: A wind-driven power generating apparatus which includes a main support for securement to a fixed structure. A main drive shaft is retained by this main support and is connected at one of its outer ends to a support block having a plurality of angularly spaced, radially extending, support shafts, each one of which carry a windmill-type blade. The other end of the main drive shaft extends into a housing having a support frame for retaining a gear drive mechanism. One of the gears in this gear drive mechanism is connected to the main drive shaft. Also included within the gear drive mechanism located within the housing is a second gear which drives a pair of alternators for generating electrical power as the support block is rotated by the wind vanes. A first speed control mechanism is associated with each of the vanes and rotates the vanes axially about their longitudinal center line in proportion to the speed of the wind in order to protect the apparatus against excess rotation due to excess wind speed.
