  • Patent number: 8096171
Abstract: In a method for the diagnostics of an internal combustion engine exhaust gas system that includes a particle filter, first and second sets of value vectors are determined, each including associated values for absolute pressure upstream and downstream of the particle filter, a differential pressure determined from the values of the absolute pressure, an exhaust gas volume flow through the particle filter, and a temperature of the exhaust gas volume flow. After a temperature-standardization of the pressure values, characteristics for dependence of the pressure values are generated from temperature-standardized values of the first set of value vectors and possibly stored as reference characteristics. By comparing temperature-standardized values for the absolute pressure on the inlet and outlet sides of the particle filter and the differential pressure of the second set of value vectors with reference characteristics, flow anomalies can be determined in the exhaust gas system.

  • Patent number: 7219003
Abstract: Combustion failures of an internal combustion engine are controlled in closed loop fashion by sampling an engine r.p.m. to obtain a speed signal. The speed signal is subjected to a Hartley-Transformation to obtain angular frequencies or engine orders which are further processed to identify the cylinder which had a combustion failure and thereby reduced an actual engine power output compared to a rated power output. A power output correcting signal is produced and supplied to the engine. The system for performing these steps includes at least a speed signal sampler, a frequency analyzer to perform the Hartley-Transformation, a cylinder identifier or classifier and a controller which supplies the closed loop control signal to the engine.

  • Publication number: 20050229904
Abstract: Control of the operating mode of an internal combustion engine The invention relates to a control method for controlling the operating mode of an IC engine, in which a control device comprises a device for sampling signals, a downstream arranged device for frequency analysis as well as a downstream arranged device for cylinder classification, in which at first a speed signal is detected and subsequently the speed signal is transformed into an angle-frequency-range, wherein the transformation is effected by means of a Hartley-transformation. The invention further relates to a device for controlling the operating mode of an IC engine of a motor vehicle by means of such method as well as an IC engine.

  • Patent number: 4173719
Abstract: An apparatus for irradiating a flowing material with an electron beam includes an electron beam accelerating device having an electron beam emitter; an irradiation device having an inclined irradiation tray arranged underneath the electron beam emitter and determining a flowpath for the material to be irradiated; and a material feeding arrangement for introducing the material onto the inclined irradiation tray. The material feeding arrangement comprises a riser vessel having an upper portion, a bottom portion and an overflow edge situated at the upper portion and adjoining the irradiation tray upstream thereof as viewed in the direction of material flow and at least one diffuser communicating with the bottom portion of the riser vessel for introducing the material thereinto.
