  • Publication number: 20080211203
Abstract: This invention discloses a lever operated vehicle propulsion system wherein the levers move substantially horizontally and couplers are adjusted along each lever to control the mechanical advantage available to the vehicle operator. Drive chains that are attached to each coupler and engage a pair of freewheel sprockets that, in turn, engage an axle or hub that is attached to a drive wheel. The free ends of the drive chains are connected together by a tensioning device to maintain tension in the drive chains. Also disclosed is a power transmission device that may be used to engage or disengage a drive wheel of a three or four wheeled vehicle from the drive axle.

  • Publication number: 20050225714
Abstract: An improved low vision device for macular degeneration victims comprising any one of the following elements; (1) two reflecting elements permanently affixed to the frame, (2) reflecting elements mounted to the frame along their outer edges, (3) a single unified lower reflecting element or frame, (4) a corrective lens pivotally attached to a reflecting element in such a way that it may be removed or rotated away, (5) a shield covering the frame that blocks ancillary light from entering the eye, (6) a shield attached to a reflecting element that blocks light from entering the eye between the upper and lower reflecting elements, and (7) a handheld design featuring two reflecting elements for use with only one eye.

  • Patent number: 6554309
Abstract: A system for powering vehicles such as bicycles using leverage type pedals each connected to a freewheeling sprocket and then connected to a common drive shaft in the rear of the vehicle. A keyed shaft connects all free wheeling sprockets and provides for each sprocket to drive the keyed shaft in one rotational direction. A hand powering unit operates through a separate free wheeling sprocket and is also arranged like a lever in similar manner to the pedals. Lowered seating for horizontal movement of legs is preferred arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4138094
Abstract: An adjustable railing section including upper and lower rails connected by spaced vertical members is mountable between a pair of vertical posts, the posts being secured in vertical positions on a surface by use of U-shaped brackets and individually inserted fasteners that provide for vertical orientation of the posts in two planes perpendicular to each other. The undersurface of the upper rail and the upper surface of the lower rail of each section have spaced, transversely extending, confronting cylindrical sockets formed therein, and the opposite ends of the vertical members carry cylindrical formations that are receivable in said upper and lower cylindrical sockets. The socket openings and the cylindrical formations are configured to permit pivotal movement of the vertical members relative to the upper and lower rails, whereby the angles between said rails and the vertical members can be adjusted universally over a preselected range.
