  • Publication number: 20240078894
Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to systems and apparatuses that deter tampering with smoke alarms. In one scenario, such a system may include a tamper detection component that is affixed to a smoke alarm, a support structure that includes a locking mechanism and an extended portion that aligns with an extended cavity of an interlocking cover portion, a sensor positioned within a specified maximum distance from the tamper detection component, an interlocking cover portion that includes an aperture for the sensor and that locks into place over the support structure using the locking mechanism, a controller configured to interpret sensor data received from the sensor, and a transmitter configured to transmit notification data to various specified entities based on the interpreted sensor data. Other corresponding apparatuses and devices are also described.

  • Patent number: 10566008
Abstract: A method of enhancing an audio signal, the method comprising: receiving a plurality of input audio signals from a plurality of microphones; for each of the plurality of input audio signals, generating at an echo cancellation module, at least one output signal, the at least one output signal comprising one or more of an echo cancelled signal, a post-filter signal and a filter tap signal; analysing the plurality of input audio signals and/or the respective at least one output signal to determine a condition at each of the plurality of microphones; selecting one of the at least one output signals based on the determined condition at each of the plurality of microphones; and generating an echo suppressed audio signal by suppressing echo in an audio signal derived from one or more of the plurality of microphones using the selected one of the at least one output signal.

  • Patent number: 9922529
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to methods and apparatuses for remotely managing electrical devices. In one scenario, a computer system performs a method for remotely managing electrical devices. The method includes determining that an electrical device has been left turned on for a threshold minimum period of time. The method next includes determining that a first device management criteria has been met indicating that the electrical device is no longer being actively managed. The method then includes notifying a user that the electrical device is still turned on, receiving an indication that the electrical device is to be turned off, and turning the electrical device off. Other scenarios include an electronic device that allows remote management of electrical devices.

  • Patent number: 9846413
Abstract: A safety shut-off system and method are provided for eliminating power to a load in the event of smoke detection. The system may comprise a device located at the appliance for detecting a signal from a smoke detector, and cutting power to the appliance only when the appliance is in use. The device may be synchronized with any standard smoke alarm signal to reduce the number of false positive shut-offs. The system may also comprise a smoke alarm hard-wired to a circuit breaker, for shutting off power to all appliances on a particular breaker upon receipt of a signal from the smoke alarm, and only when the appliances on the breaker are in use. The system may also have the ability to shut off one breaker, multiple breakers, or all breakers at different time increments to actively prevent and reduce the damages caused by fires.
