  • Publication number: 20240166829
Abstract: In one aspect, the present disclosure provides a polymer film with a low glass transition temperature. In one embodiment, when in contact with a metal substrate, the polymer film adheres to the metal substrate under heating and/or mechanical pressure. In one embodiment, the polymer film comprises a butadiene copolymer and a butylene polymer. In another aspect, the present disclosure further provides a method of masking a metal substrate using the polymer film. In yet another aspect, the present disclosure provides a method of chemically or electrochemically processing a metal substrate that is masked with the polymer film.

  • Patent number: 4997049
Abstract: A tool insert having a cemented carbide substrate with a recess formed in one end of the substrate and having an abrasive compact located in the recess and bonded to the substrate. The cemented carbide substrate has two ends joined by a side, and the recess formed in the substrate has a side and a base, with the side sloping inwards towards a center point of the base. The abrasive compact includes a top surface which provides a cutting surface or edge for the tool insert, a bottom surface which is complementary to the base of the recess, and a side surface which is complementary to the side of the recess.

  • Patent number: 4337045
Abstract: A ship navigation and handling training simulator comprises a console for use by an instructor and a console for use by a student navigator. Each console has a visual display unit with a screen to provide a mimic display of the ship and environmental information, and the instructor console is associated with two groups of controls for setting in, respectively, the environmental and display information applicable to the navigational or ship handling exercise to be performed and information representing ship/tug control decisions by the student. The consoles are interconnected by a voice link so that the instructor can initially set the environmental and display controls and subsequently adjust the group of controls for ship/tug control in accordance with vocal instructions from the student transmitted via the voice link.

  • Patent number: 4216538
Abstract: A navigation aid for determining berthing data comprises distance detecting units embodying sonar transducers which are spaced apart along the length of a jetty a short distance behind the berthing line. The units are operative to provide signals indicative of the distance from the berthing line of correspondingly spaced sections of the ship, and a microcomputer selects two out of three of these signals and processes them to determine the distance from the berthing line of nominal bow and stern sections of the ship, the nominal measuring points being different from the actual measuring points at which the transducers are positioned. The microcomputer also processes the selected signals to determine the velocity of the bow and stern sections relative to the berthing line, and controls a jetty display of the determined distance and velocity data in addition to local and remote indications/recordal thereof.
