  • Patent number: 10223600
Abstract: The invention provides a method and a device for recognizing traffic signs by a sensor system for recording the surrounding environment for a vehicle, which includes at least one camera sensor and one radar sensor or LiDAR sensor. Based on the data of the at least one radar sensor or LiDAR sensor, at least one element of the presence of a traffic sign, or the size of a traffic sign, position of a traffic sign, distance and/or orientation of a traffic sign, bridge-like structure, position and/or type of the vehicle ahead, position of lane delimiting structures is obtained and used for traffic sign recognition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 21, 2013
Date of Patent: March 5, 2019
    Assignee: Conti Temic microelectronic GmbH
Inventors: Marc Fischer, Peter van der Vegte, Ulrich Möller
  • Patent number: 9975471
Abstract: A driver assistance system for controlling a high beam, including an environment detecting device. At least one radar or lidar sensor system as well as a camera sensor system are provided for detecting the environment in front of the vehicle. A control signal for a high beam controller or warning device is generated when the high beam is active and at least one sensor system for detecting the environment simultaneously detects a potentially dazzled object.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 20, 2015
Date of Patent: May 22, 2018
    Assignee: Conti Temic microelectronic GmbH
Inventors: Thomas Bopp, Frank Gruson, Stefan Hegemann, Peter van der Vegte

Abstract: The invention provides a method and a device for recognizing traffic signs by means of a sensor system for recording the surrounding environment for a vehicle, which comprises at least one camera sensor and one radar sensor or LiDAR sensor. Based on the data of the at least one radar sensor or LiDAR sensor, at least one element of the following information the presence of a traffic sign or the size of a traffic sign position of a traffic sign distance and/or orientation of a traffic sign bridge-like structure position and/or type of the vehicle ahead position of lane delimiting structures is obtained and used for traffic sign recognition.

  • Patent number: 8095277
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for detecting a direction of travel in a vehicle with a protection system which avoids accidents. When an object is detected in front of the vehicle in the direction of the vehicle and contact between the vehicle and the object is possible, the method triggers a driver-independent braking and/or steering process to prevent contact with the object. In order to avoid incorrect triggering of the protection system, the method further provides that the driver-independent braking and/or steering process is prevented or aborted if reverse travel is detected.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 12, 2007
Date of Patent: January 10, 2012
Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co. OMG
