  • Patent number: 4758720
Abstract: In order to initiate the operation of an incremental-correction measurement system, which measures such guidance errors as instantaneous lateral offset of a movable machine part with respect to its guidance direction (Y), a reference mark is provided by two cylindrical lenses (4, 5) which are arranged at an angle to each other and to the guidance direction. Since the distance intercepts for Y-direction scanning of and between the two cylindrical lenses is dependent on the instantaneous lateral offset (.DELTA.X) of the guided part, it is possible to determine the absolute offset values (.DELTA.X.sub.1, .DELTA.X.sub.2) of two spaced incremental-correction measurement systems (K1, K2), using pairs of pulses (A.sub.1/2, B.sub.1/2) generated by two signal transmitters (KNIP1, KNIP2) upon their scanning traverse of the respective cylindrical lenses in the course of a single calibration run.

  • Patent number: 4565869
Abstract: Novel pyrimidinedicarbamates of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is lower alkyl or (lower alkyloxy)-(lower alkyl) and X is a leaving group, can be manufactured by carbamoylating the corresponding free diamines. They are valuable intermediates and can be used, for example, for the manufacture of corresponding oxadiazolopyrimidines of the formula ##STR2## and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The latter have valuable long-lasting vasodilating and/or bloodpressure lowering properties and are accordingly suitable especially for the treatment of vascular-conditioned hypertensions or as vasodilators in the case of peripheral blood supply disorders.

  • Patent number: 4547664
Abstract: The invention contemplates a beam splitter which consists of a phase grating (5) which transmits at zero order the greatest part of the radiation of a two-mode laser (1) and which diffracts a relatively small part of the radiation, symmetrically at 1 order and -1 order, respectively. The intensity of components of the radiation polarized perpendicular to each other and associated with the two modes is measured by detectors (11, 12) in front of which polarization sheets (9, 10) are arranged as analyzers, and outputs of the detectors are used to regulate the center frequency of the laser tube (1).

  • Patent number: 4539168
Abstract: In order to remove a thin-walled wax model adhering to the walls of a first core piece and a second core piece, after solidifying, from a multi-part device for making thin-walled wax models, without damaging the wax model, after the external pressure is released, a mold-opening moment is generated simultaneously and abruptly in axially opposite directions by spring-loaded push-off bolts or directly by leaf springs in the upper parting faces and lower parting faces of the device. As a result, both the lower closing plate and the upper closing plate are separated from the annular casing and the wax model is separated from the core pieces, by a maximum of 3 mm, axially in opposite directions because the adhesion of the wax model to the walls of the core arrangements is overcome simultaneously and abruptly. Subsequently the two core arrangements and the casing are transported away from one another in an axial direction relative to one another, so that the wax model is freed.

  • Patent number: 4527742
Abstract: In a washing appliance comprising a liquid flow-regulating and shut-off valve and a conduit pipe connected to said valve, the regulating and shut-off valve comprises an inlet fitting and an outlet fitting for the supply and discharge of liquid, respectively. Each of said fittings is provided with at least one male and/or female coupling portion and the outlet fitting may consist of a spray nozzle. In a regulating and shut-off valve in which said fittings extend at an angle to each other, the conduit pipe is provided at its ends with corresponding male or female coupling portions so that it can be selectively connected to one fitting or the other.

  • Patent number: 4455871
Abstract: Method of non-destructively determining response pressure of a reversible rupture disc which includes: measuring resonance frequencies of lower vibration modes of the reversible rupture disc at varying measuring pressures below the response pressure of the reversible rupture disc; and extrapolating from the resonance frequencies of each of the vibration modes as a function of the measuring pressure, that pressure at which the resonance frequency of the respective vibration mode becomes zero, the lowest pressure at which one of the vibration modes would have zero resonance frequency being the lowest response pressure of the reversible rupture disc; and apparatus for performing the method.

  • Patent number: 4258943
Abstract: A device for joining two fluid flow lines includes a pair of connection members threadly engaged to enable a pair of internal abutment surfaces to be moved together when a connection is to be made. A tubular member constituting the terminal end of one of the two fluid flow lines to be placed in flow communication is inserted into the connection device and a clamping member arranged between the abutment surfaces is caused to produce a clamping effect on the tubular member as the two connection members are moved toward each other by threaded engagement therebetween. The clamping member includes a clamping element which will extend obliquely to the axis of the tubular member when in an uncompressed state, with compression thereof by the abutment surfaces causing the clamping element to move toward an orientation perpendicular with the axis of the tubular member whereby a clamping effect is established.
