Publication number: 20220174245Abstract: Imaging devices and methods for generating a color image from a low-light scene. A method incudes filtering light from the low-light scene to produce a first light channel having filtered light filtered by a first filter and a second light channel having unfiltered light. The method includes producing a first information channel and a second information channel. The first information channel includes first brightness information corresponding to the first light channel and the second information channel includes second brightness information corresponding to the second light channel. The method includes receiving the first information channel and the second information channel and assigning the first brightness information to a first color channel. The method includes assigning the second brightness information to second color channel and processing the first color channel and the second color channel to produce a full-color image stream. The method includes outputting the full-color image stream.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2022Publication date: June 2, 2022Inventors: Peter W.J. Jones, Ellen Cargill, Dennis W. Purcell

Patent number: 11070773Abstract: Full-color images of low-light scenes are generated by the systems and methods described herein using only two light channels. An array of photosensitive pixels includes two sets of pixels, the first sensitive only to light associated with a first light channel, the second only to light associated with a second light channel. Thus the first set of pixels generate a first set of electrical signals in response to incident light within the first light channel, and the second set of pixels generate a second set of electrical signals in response to incident light within the second light channel. An image processor receives the first and second sets of electrical signals and generates a full-color image of the scene by processing only signals generated by the first and second sets of pixels.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2019Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Assignee: Chromatra, LLCInventors: Peter W. J. Jones, Ellen Cargill, Dennis W. Purcell

Patent number: 8890370Abstract: The systems and methods described herein include an intelligent energy-saving power supply system which conserves energy by recognizing when a chargeable electronic device, such as a cellular telephone, has been detached from its battery charger and by then cutting off power to the battery charger to prevent energy from being consumed while not serving the useful function of charging the chargeable electronic device. In addition, these systems may optionally include a device which turns off the receiver circuit of an electronic device to additionally save power and an interface which displays the amount of energy conserved by using the energy-saving power supply system.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2011Date of Patent: November 18, 2014Inventor: Peter W. Patent number: 8791984Abstract: The systems and methods described herein provide imaging systems for imaging a scene. The imaging system includes an optical head, a processor, and an analog communication port. The processor receives captured digital image data from the optical head. The processor sends the image data to the analog communication port to generate an analog video stream that is protocol compatible with typical closed-circuit television (CCTV) networks, such as PAL or NTSC. The imaging system has a physical interface that allows the system to plug into a conventional CCTV network. To generate a video stream that is protocol compatible with the CCTV network, the analog communication port may down sample the digital image data to generate a PAL or NTSC compatible image. The down sampled digital image data is converted to a compliant analog signal and delivered over the physical layer of the CCTV network for display on a conventional television monitor.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2011Date of Patent: July 29, 2014Assignee: Scallop Imaging, LLCInventors: Peter W. J. Jones, Ellen Cargill, Dennis W. Purcell
