  • Patent number: 11992659
Abstract: A drug delivery system is disclosed that includes a drug delivery device having a reservoir, a delivery cannula having a proximal end in fluid communication with the reservoir and a distal end to be received within a patient, and one or more controllable elements. The drug delivery system may further include one or more sensors coupled to the drug delivery device, and a controller coupled to the one or more sensors and the one or more controllable elements. The controller may be configured to use the one or more sensors to determine a condition or an operational state of the drug delivery device. Furthermore, the controller may be configured to control the controllable element based on the condition or the operational state of the drug delivery device and/or identity information stored in a memory onboard the device. A method for use with a drug delivery device is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11358140
Abstract: An cartridge is combined with a smart device which is capable of communicating with a network to perform a portable, fast, field assay of a small sample biological analyte. A closed microfluidic circuit for mixes the analyte with a buffer with functionalized magnetic beads capable of being specifically combined with the analyte. A detector communicates with the microfluidic circuit in which the mixed analyte, buffer and combined functionalized magnetic beads are sensed. A microcontroller is coupled to detector for controlling the detector and for data processing an output assay signal from the detector. A user interface communicates with the microcontroller for providing user input and for providing user output through the smart device to the network.

  • Publication number: 20220097064
Abstract: A field portable diagnostic apparatus uses a rotatable disk in which a microfluidic circuit is defined. The microfluidic circuit includes a centrifugal separation chamber receiving a sample to stratify the sample. A magnetic bead holding chamber is communicated to a mixing chamber, where mass amplifying functionalized magnetic-nanoparticles, held in a buffer solution and contained in the magnetic bead holding reservoir communicated to mixing chamber, are mixed with the separated fluid delivered to mixing chamber from the separation chamber. The functionalized magnetic nanoparticles conjugate with a target analyte in the sample. A magnet in proximity to a SAW chamber including a SAW detector draws the functionalized magnetic nanoparticles toward antibodies immobilized on the SAW sensor surface A wash reservoir is communicated to the SAW sensor chamber, and a cleanup/waste reservoir is communicated to the SAW chamber for receive fluid after it has passed through the SAW chamber.

  • Publication number: 20140169162
Abstract: A medical telemetry system and method are provided for communication between an implantable medical device (IMD) and an external device (ExD). The method and system collects real-time (RT) data and non-real-time (NRT) data. The method and system segment the RT data into RT packets and the NRT data into NRT packets and load the RT and NRT packets into a shared transmit buffer in the IMD in accordance with RT and NRT bandwidth allocations and/or packet size. The method and system transmit the RT and NRT packets from the IMD to the ExD in an order loaded in the transmit buffer and adjust at least one of the RT and NRT bandwidth allocations and/or packet size based on a quality of service (QoS) characteristic.

  • Patent number: 6273502
Abstract: An ergonomically designed chair having a keyboard support arrangement which is adjustable to suit the needs of individual workers, and which may be stored within the armrests of the chair when the keyboard is not in use. The support arrangement provides a position adjustment capability for a keyboard supported thereby and also enables the keyboard to be swung to one side so as to afford a user convenient entry to and exit from the chair. The chair has a seat and a pair of armrests, each including a compartment therein. Each compartment includes a compartment door, a vertical support member disposed in the compartment, and a multi-link extendable support arm. The multi-link arm is rotatable at one end about the support member for movement, when the door is open, between a storage position within the compartment and a support position outside of the compartment. One of the compartments is used to store a keyboard support frame for, in use, supporting a computer keyboard.

  • Patent number: 5731379
Abstract: Method of making copolymers of (i) an acrylic or methacrylic-functional polyisobutylene macromonomer, (ii) a polydiorganosiloxane macromonomer, and optionally (iii) a radical polymerizable monomer such as an alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate. The copolymers are prepared by copolymerizing the monomers in a miniemulsion using a free radical initiator at high temperature. In the method, the monomers are mixed with a surfactant(s) and optionally a cosurfactant(s), and subjected to high shear.
