  • Patent number: 7584674
Abstract: A method for measuring a nip pressure and/or a pressure profile is provided, wherein a nip-forming roll is fitted with a pressure sensor under a coating layer which is protective and functions as a spring on top of the sensor, and the nip pressure delivers to the bottom surface of the coating a deformation proportional to the nip pressure and the deformation compresses the sensor, which responds to the deformation by generating an electric signal.

  • Publication number: 20080128103
Abstract: Method and arrangement for processing a paper or board web (1) or similar fibre web, in which method a processing mixture is spread onto the surface of the web. hi the method, the web (1) to be processed is lead from a press nip (8) and pressed between rolls (8) in this nip. Before the web enters the nip, such an amount of processing mixture is spread onto at least one side of the web (1), that the processing mixture is still wet when it enters the nip.

  • Publication number: 20060182889
Abstract: A treating agent is fed to an application apparatus (40) used for applying coating color or surface size directly or indirectly to a paper or board web. Part of the treating agent fed to the application apparatus (40) is returned via a bypass line (24) to the treating agent feed system and part of it is passed into an application chamber in the application apparatus (40), from which application chamber substantially all treating agent fed into it is applied to a moving web or to a transfer surface. The flow of a treating agent (Q) to the application apparatus (40) is measured, and the feeding of the treating agent is controlled on the basis of the measured flow (Q) and of a predetermined set value (Q0), which set value has been selected according to the desired amount of treating agent to be applied to the moving web or transfer surface.
