  • Publication number: 20120109513
Abstract: A method comprising: presenting a three-dimensional environment, comprising routes, to a user by using a selected one of a plurality of perspective views of the environment that corresponds to a current position on a current route; detecting a gesture user input comprising a characteristic that changes in time, and changing the current position on the current route to a new position on a route in response to the gesture user input wherein a first characteristic of the gesture user input determines a direction along the current route of the new position relative to the current position and a second characteristic of the gesture user input determines the new position; and presenting the three-dimensional environment, comprising routes, to the user by using a newly selected one of the plurality of perspective views of the environment that corresponds to the new position.

  • Publication number: 20120001724
Abstract: An inherent physical characteristic of a target object is detected via a sensor of a user device. The inherent physical characteristic is not intended for machine reading. The target object is identified based on comparing the inherent physical characteristic to data representative of a type of the target object. Data processing actions are engaged in with the target object via a network in response at least to identifying the type of the target object.

  • Publication number: 20100125652
Abstract: Binding local devices to user accounts may involve receiving a registration message from a local device of a local network via an Internet connection. A public Internet identifier of the local network may be determined based on the Internet connection, and a user login to an account is received. The user login originates via the public Internet identifier of the local network. The local device is bound to the account based on the user login originating from the public Internet identifier of the local network.

  • Publication number: 20090259515
Abstract: Using peer-to-peer device descriptors for determining product compatibility involves obtaining, via a home network, descriptors that describe a composition of the home network. The home network composition descriptors are compared to descriptors of products available from an e-commerce service provider that is external to the home network. The comparison determines compatibility of the products with the devices of the home network. Identity of compatible products selected from the products based on the comparison is communicated to a user.

  • Publication number: 20090129301
Abstract: Configuring a mobile device to remotely access a private network involves determining, via the private network, first network parameters that enable the mobile device utilize to a computing service of the private network. The device also determines, via a gateway coupled to the private network, second network parameters that allow the mobile to utilize the computing service via a public network. The first and second network parameters are stored on the mobile device. A request is received from a user of the mobile device to access the computing service. It is determined that the mobile device is not on the private network. In response to determining that the mobile device is not on the private network, the second network parameters are utilized to access the computing service via the gateway in response to the request.

  • Publication number: 20080215754
Abstract: When a packet is sent from a node connected to the network requiring acknowledgements to a node behind the bridge, the original destination address (address of node behind the bridge) is changed. On the driver level, the destination address is replaced with the MAC address of the bridge, and the original destination address is moved to an additional field of the packet. Thus the communication between the sending node and the bridge appears to be point-to-point (from node to bridge). Accordingly, when the bridge receives the packet it is automatically acknowledged from the firmware, and the sending node does not try to resend it. The packet is forwarded to the driver of the bridge. The driver modifies again the received packet by replacing the destination address with the original one found in the “ORIGINAL TO”, additional field and at the same time completely removing that field. Thus the package looks substantially the same as the one originally generated by the application on the sending node.

  • Publication number: 20080208974
Abstract: A method, electronic device, computer program product, system and apparatus are provided for sharing a media object and, in particular for sharing the discussions and comments surrounding the media object. A user's device may automatically keep track of one or more comments and discussions surrounding a particular media object by, for example, storing information associated with those comments and discussions in a data source either internal to or external from the electronic device, such that the stored information is somehow linked to the corresponding media object. When the user attempts to transmit the media object (e.g., upload the media object to an online sharing server, transmit the media object to a friend, or the like), the user's device may automatically gather the stored information associated with that media object and then transmit that information along with the media object.

  • Publication number: 20070239867
Abstract: A method, apparatus, network entity, system and computer program product are provided for content sharing. In particular, a technique is provided whereby an individual desiring to share content including, for example, photograph albums, music or video files, or the like, need only select the individual(s) with whom he or she would like to share the content, and the device on which he or she is operating will determine all of the necessary protocols, connectivity bearers, and the like, for sharing the content, as well as the appropriate device with which the content should be shared.

  • Publication number: 20070226312
Abstract: The use of ATOM/RSS feeds as a change log for web syndication. According to the present invention, whenever the SystemUpdateID changes, the CDS logs the change as a new entry in the ATOM feed. The SystemUpdateID is checked by a control point whenever it joins the network. If the SystemUpdateID is different, the control point promptly fetches the log, thereby eliminating the need to browse the entire CDS. When all of the items have been synchronized, the control point updates the time of last synchronization to reflect the current time. The control point then invokes other UPnP methods as necessary or desired.

  • Publication number: 20070162165
Abstract: An architecture where Web Syndication mechanisms such as RSS/Atom feeds can be used to discover remote UPnP devices for environments where the standard UPnP discovery mechanism (e.g. SSDP) does not work due to bearer-induced limitations or policy restrictions along the path. The present invention can be used to enable remote access to UPnP Networks. The present invention allows for the extension of usage of UPnP protocols and services beyond the physical boundaries of the home network. The present invention does not involve the use of multicast messages, which are problematic over uncontrolled networks such as the Internet. The present invention also has a low level of complexity; as SSDP is the only portion of the UPnP stack is altered.

  • Publication number: 20070112938
Abstract: A method for sharing content includes an intermediary receiving a source reference identifying content stored by the source, and thereafter receiving one or more requests for the content, the request(s) including a first request identifying the content by an intermediary reference. The intermediary can also receive the content from the source. In response to the request(s), the intermediary can provide the requested content to the respective destination(s). The intermediary can receive the first request before receiving the content from the source. In such instances, the method can further include the intermediary requesting the content from the source based upon the source reference and in response to the request from the destination. The intermediary can then receive the content in response to the request from the intermediary, and provide the requested content to the destination in response to the request from the destination.
