The network node is also capable of receiving a registration message, in response to the trigger, from the terminal across the network. In this regard, the network node is capable of receiving the registration message to thereby identify the terminal across the network such that a communication session is capable of being established with the terminal based upon the identity of the terminal across the network.

A message from a first node is received at a second node which message requires an acknowledgement message, preferably of Boolean type. Functionalities required for processing the message are partitioned into at least a first part and a second part. The first part comprises a minimum set of functionalities required to generate the acknowledgement message. The functionalities of the first part are executed. The acknowledgement message is generated and transmitted to the first node after to finishing the functionalities of the first part. The present invention makes it possible to effectively minimize the perceived message processing latency. It is also possible to dynamically optimize the latency according to available resources.

Upon being notified of incoming data, then, the terminating node is capable of registering with the intermediate node to thereby establish an IP connection between the originating node and the terminating node via the intermediate node.

Controlled use is established by storing encrypted data at the DNS servers and establishing trust, in the form of transfer of keying material, with requisite parties. The invention provides backward compatibility with existing DNS servers, in that, it provides for storage of encrypted data in existing resource records. The invention benefits from allowing storage in the DNS to be divided into both public and private classification, such that a user can identify and store certain public information that is available to all parties that have access to the DNS, while other information that has been classified as private is only available to parties which have established a trust.
