Patent number: 11924707Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a first UE and a second UE perform a ranging procedure which includes communication of one or more ranging signals between the first UE and the second UE. The first UE obtains sensor data via a set of sensors coupled to the first UE, and transmits the sensor data to the second UE in association with the ranging procedure. The second UE determines a distance between the first UE and the second UE based on ranging measurement data associated with the one or more ranging signals and the sensor data.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2021Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Rolf De Vegt, Xiaoxin Zhang, Peyman Siyari

Patent number: 11885899Abstract: Methods and systems for generating map information of an environment using channel state information (CSI) of wireless signals received by access points (APs) in the environment are disclosed. In some implementations, a system uses CSI of a wireless signal received by a respective AP to determine a time-of-flight (ToF) and an angle-of-arrival (AoA) of one or more reflected path signal components of the wireless signal, and estimates the locations of points or surfaces in an area of the respective AP based on the ToF and AoA of the reflected path signal components. The estimated locations of the points or surfaces can be used to generate map information for the area. The system aggregates map information generated for different areas of the environment to determine map information for the entire environment. The wireless signals may be received from wireless stations or user equipment, or may be received from the respective AP.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2021Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Hadi Givehchian, Xiaoxin Zhang, Peyman Siyari

Publication number: 20230366976Abstract: Disclosed are various techniques for wireless positioning. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) determines one or more angle-based measurements of one or more reference signal resources transmitted by or received at the UE on one or more antennas of the UE and reports, to a positioning entity, the one or more angle-based measurements, a beam pattern associated with the one or more reference signal resources, a type of the one or more antennas, locations of the one or more antennas on the UE, an orientation of the one or more antennas, or any combination thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2021Publication date: November 16, 2023Inventors: Alexandros MANOLAKOS, Xiaoxin ZHANG, Peyman SIYARI, Bala RAMASAMY

Publication number: 20230336946Abstract: In some implementations, a method may comprise obtaining channel state information (CSI) data corresponding to a set of RF signals received by one or more receiving devices, wherein: the set RF signals comprises two or more reflected RF signals successively received by the one or more receiving devices after being reflected from a person, and the two or more reflected RF signals are received by the one or more receiving devices over a period of time. The method may further comprise determining an identity of the person based at least in part on an observed gait of the person and an observed shape of the person, wherein the observed gait of the person and the observed shape of the person are determined based at least in part on the CSI data. The method may further comprise outputting an indication of the determined identity of the person.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2022Publication date: October 19, 2023Inventors: Hadi GIVEHCHIAN, Xiaoxin ZHANG, Peyman SIYARI

Patent number: 10439755Abstract: Systems and methods of friendly jamming for securing wireless communications at the physical layer are presented. Under the assumption of exact knowledge of the eavesdropping channel, a resource-efficient distributed approach is used to improve the secrecy sum-rate of a multi-link network with one or more eavesdroppers while satisfying an information-rate constraint for all links. A method based on mixed strategic games can offer robust solutions to the distributed secrecy sum-rate maximization. In addition, a block fading broadcast channel with a multi-antenna transmitter, sending two or more independent confidential data streams to two or more respective users in the presence of a passive eavesdropper is considered. Lastly, a per-link strategy is considered and an optimization problem is formulated, which aims at jointly optimizing the power allocation and placement of the friendly jamming devices for a given link under secrecy constraints.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2018Date of Patent: October 8, 2019Assignee: ARIZONA BOARD OF REGENTS ON BEHALF OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONAInventors: Marwan M. Krunz, Berk Akgun, Peyman Siyari, Hanif Rahbari, Rashad Mohamed Eletreby, Onur Ozan Koyluoglu
