Abstract: A secondary ply structure suitable for incorporation into a continuous fiber reinforced composite structure comprising a matrix material and a plurality of fiber ply reinforcing structures, a continuous fiber reinforced composite material so formed, and a method for the fabrication of the same are described. The secondary ply comprises a carrier sheet for example in the form of a ply of primary fibers and carries a two dimensional planar array of secondary fibers extending outwardly of the plane of the sheet into a third dimension in generally aligned manner and disposed across at least a major part of the surface thereof in generally aligned manner to provide out of plane reinforcement in the consolidated structure.

Abstract: A mailing machine including a scanner for detecting data marks printed on documents to be mailed for conveying control information to the machine, for example in the manner known as the “Optical Mark Recognition” system. The machine includes a memory buffer for storing data concerning the marks if the user inputs data indicating that the reference or “gate” mark is at the end of the group of marks. The data may then be read from the buffer in the reverse order. Thus, the data marks may be printed in the same position on all documents regardless of the fold configuration, and thus feed orientation, which is required.

Abstract: A screen is provided having overlapping leaves, an upper rail on which the leaves are hung, and a lower rail for guiding the lower ends of the leaves during their sliding movement. A runner element whereby the lower end of an outer one of the leaves is guided with respect to the lower rail, is pivotally displaceable between a first condition in which it engages with the lower rail and a second condition in which it is disengaged from the lower rail, permitting the leaf to swing away from the other leaf. This facilitates cleaning of the leaves in the region where they overlap.

Abstract: A bifold door comprises door panels and a center section, with a hinge construction between each panel and the center section. Each door panel and center section comprises an extruded metal section. First and second hinge elements of synthetic plastic material have key formations which engage with key-ways in the extruded sections. One hinge element has a pintle and the other hinge element has a bore in which the pintle is received.

Abstract: A shower cubicle enclosure is disclosed. It has a fixed panel and a slidable panel for opening and closing an access opening, and a rail which defines a cylindrically curved track. The slidable panel has runner elements which cooperate with the track so as to guide the slidable panel for displacement between an open position in which the slidable panel is adjacent and spaced traversely from the fixed panel, and a closed position in which the panel closes the access opening. The fixed and slidable panels are both cylindrically curved. A parking element draws the trailing end of the slidable panel traversely towards the fixed panel as the slidable panel approaches the closed position, thus forming a water tight seal between the slidable and fixed panels.
