  • Publication number: 20230294218
Abstract: A torch support and guide apparatus for a plasma cutting torch, for assisting a user in beveling workpiece edges and in sectioning workpieces. The apparatus includes a main support body having a base plate and a pair of support arms extending upwardly from the base plate, the arms configured to support a handle therebetween. The base plate has a cutout notch formed therein to accommodate a clamp subassembly which includes a U-shaped swing member and a clamping bracket. The base plate has a substantially rectangular shape, and has a horizontally extending groove formed in an upper surface thereof. The apparatus also includes a fence with a guide portion and a slide arm integrally attached to the guide portion. The slide arm of the fence fits slidably in the groove of the base plate. A kit for constructing the apparatus and a method of using the apparatus are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9370830
Abstract: A milling tool for use with a rotary drive mechanism. The tool includes a cylindrical torque transmission shaft, a cylindrical sleeve which receives the torque transmission shaft therein, and a hood for attaching to the sleeve member, where the torque transmission shaft is rotatably supported in the sleeve. The tool also includes a hood having a cylindrical body portion, a transverse flange and a C-shaped collar attached to and extending outwardly from an outer edge of the flange. The tool also includes a fence which is adjustably attached to the hood, and a cutting wheel including a rotatable disc and a plurality of cutting bits respectively mounted on the disc. The cutting wheel is disposed inside the collar and proximate the fence, and is affixed to an end of the torque transmission shaft for concurrent rotation therewith. Methods of using the milling tool for machining weld seams are also described.

  • Patent number: 5522684
Abstract: A portable tool for milling a chamfer edge on a workpiece includes a milling tool mounted on a motorized drive unit. A hood is carried on the drive unit and partially houses the milling tool. The hood has a bottom opening adjacent the path of the milling tool. A V-shaped guide structure is mounted adjacent the hood opening and includes a pair of guide plates spaced to provide an opening for supporting the edge of the workpiece that is to be cut adjacent the cutting path of the milling tool. An internally mounted bracket in the hood supports the guide plates.

  • Patent number: 5423642
Abstract: A portable tool for milling a chamfered edge on a workpiece, includes a cutting attachment installed on a motorized drive unit. The cutting attachment includes a rotary milling cutter partially encircled by a hood element that carries a V-shaped guide structure adapted for sliding engagement with edge areas of the workpiece. The hood is attached to the motorized drive unit by an eccentric cam means, which can be adjusted to vary the penetration distance of the milling cutter into the workpiece. Various cutting depths can be achieved by adjusting the hood in relation to the rotational axis of the motorized drive unit. The V-shaped guide is arcuately adjustable to vary the slant angle of the chamfered edge independently of the cutting depth adjustment.
